Destination Lonely - Kiss Or Kicks 12" (Les Disque Steak)

6 song 12" with members of THE FATALS...
"bit of proto-punk worship on this lively little 45rpm mini-album from frenchies destination lonely. the stooges are an obvious reference point here, particularly in opener 'kiss or kicks' where the blazing in-the-red guitar leads and swaggering grooves all point in that direction for sure, but these guys seem a bit more measured and less unhinged than iggy's lot. when they take things down a bit it's got a well-studied '60s garage pop feel and the bouncy 'stuck in my mind' sounds like it could have come straight off a nuggets comp with its rough-around-the-edges beatles-influenced harmonies and cool bluesy groove. flip it and things get a bit more downbeat. understated instrumental 'the axeman cometh' comes across like ennio morricone put together a surf band to score b-movies; 'so blue' is a little tropical shuffle with echoey drifting guitars and an anthemic britpop-esque chorus; then another garage punk number 'that's all' with some more asheton-worshipping guitar leads closes out the set."
