Goner Message Board / Food & Drink / What's for Christmas dinner?
Posted: Dec 25, 2009 11:13 am
My wife is out of town visiting her aunt who has just started chemo so its a bachelor christmas for me. Having a good friend over to eat and drink until comatose.

Prime rib
twice baked potatoes
ceasar salad
shrimp cocktail

Had our traditional pot luck appetizer christmas eve at my sister in laws last night. I made spring rolls and pigs in a blanket. sister in law made chicken wings, bacon wrapped shrimp and rumaki.

No worries, that's what butcher's twine is for. Sounds good. The duck fat fries puts it over the top.

Mexican flavored failure bowl @ dfw. And the only bar in this miserable fuck pit is cowboys themed.

Xmas diner was last night for me:

Today, I'm waiting for Muchas Gracias to open.

I should have noted that the taco casserole was non-ironic

Baked a loaf of bread and made a beet/orange/red onion/blue cheese salad.

I heard theys gonna be a bbq'ed turkey there, but they's vegetarians, so we'll see about that.

i've eaten so much ham, i can't stand the sight of it anymore.

crappy "chili" with noodles in it (WTF?)
some cheeseball thing that was gross
burnt pecan pie (i threw out the crust because it was inedible)
some nasty undercooked baked potato hashbrown bullshit
crappy mashed potatoes
some cheese and sausage on crackers
pineapple upsidedown cake made from a boxed mix

needless to say, the eating for christmas was less than stellar. i informed my mom that i'm taking over christmas cooking duties next year and having a real meal because this crappy snacky shit is for the birds. (would be much better if the snacks were better, but they're not.)

I shared a pizza with my upstairs neighbor at a nearby bar. Mmm. Bar pizza.

I was happy (and admittedly, the drinks helped) until I got home and found my sister's taunting email about how I should have driven up to the Cape to be with her & the kids with this goddamn photo attached.

Oh, and then she sent me a photo of the pies.
