damn damn good and cheap...and get this, their tacos campacheros...traditional carne asada or chicken with cilantro and onion but with, get this, your choice of BACON or CHORIZO! Holy shit it is good. Knocks Guadalapana outta the park, seriously

apologies if there is already a thread about this place, couldnt find one...

is that next to the boot store? mini-mexi-mall?
Posted: Apr 16, 2009 7:14 pm
No, its a little stand alone building...green and orange, looks like it used to be an old walk up tastee freeze type place. Has a small inside seating area(just a couple tables). It is situated in front of a trailer park that looks like it is a set from a Rob Zombie move...kinda scary looking....the trailer park, not the taco shop. Its close to the interstate...on the right side if you are heading towards the interstate from midtown...

used to be taco loco
good ass food
Posted: Apr 17, 2009 10:14 am
chorizo topping sounds wicked!
Posted: Apr 17, 2009 1:05 pm
yeah! it was a burger place when i worked at the econolodge/crack whore motel past 240... always wanted to go there.

nice tip! thanks!

the other one i was thinking of is near winchester/lamar... was cheap, very mexican, not great. but cheap! like 4.00 lunch special cheap. i'd try it again.

sugardaddy and I just ate there an hour ago...I plan on making this place a habit. sugar got the torta cubano and it was the size of a shoebox.

quesadilla al pastor is proper
Posted: Apr 20, 2009 12:41 am
chorizo is the motherfucking Devil. In a good and bad way.
Posted: Apr 20, 2009 2:41 pm
How in the hell would you get the courage to go to a place like that? I'm not asking to cause trouble, just curious.

I'll definitely give a try soon.
Posted: Apr 25, 2009 12:20 am
Jay just brought a bunch of tacos to Sector Zero practice... YES!

not the best thing for your tummy before jumping up and down playing guitar, but GREAT!
Posted: Apr 25, 2009 11:34 am
I had 7 tacos last night.. Feeling a bit rogh today .. But the shit was dope !
Posted: Apr 27, 2009 1:12 pm
Chowed it today! Hoppe/Zac killed some tortas, I nailed a taco lunch special... homemade refried beans. Lunch not so big, but cheap. Tortas were huge.

Who pulls up while we're waiting... Colin B, fresh from appraising some Trailers in southeast memphis.

Colin, how were your tacos?

Folks were nice... definitely going back!

I am waiting with baited breath for my birthday lunch there Wed...so so good...dont know what Im going to get this time...well I do know it will include 3 chorizo/steak tacos...but thats just an appetizer...
Posted: Apr 27, 2009 1:38 pm
Damn good.! Bistec ones better than the pollo. Got 5 down and one for later! Ill be back soon. Super easy to find really. From Southern take a right on Semmes(South..the only way you can turn on Semmes) and take it all the way thru the mound to Lamar. Take a left on Lamar and its on your right. Super cheap and lots for the money!
Posted: Apr 27, 2009 4:47 pm
Damn...meant asada ones were better than the pollo, not bistec. My bad!
Posted: Apr 28, 2009 1:33 pm
ah yeah, that other place I ate at is further out on lamar- past showgirls - El Gallo Giro (not Mariscos del Gallo Giro). Cheap, not great.

Lacks the power of the Tarascos! Now if they would just make a Tarascos Truck and park in front of Goner every day for lunch...

i'm sure theres like a latino business association you could write to. tacos are the new hotdog.
Posted: Apr 28, 2009 6:51 pm
this thread is like reading the penthouse forum.
Posted: May 2, 2009 5:40 pm
Their burritos are as big as a toaster too. Try the spicy pork!
Posted: May 4, 2009 3:31 pm
Thanks for the tip on this place. I just polished off four tacos from there. Gawd, they were good . Now I need to lay on the rocks and sun myself like a big fat walrus.PS: Met Ryan Brown there. Sorry,I talked your head off , man.

best tacos in my short time in memphis.....by a landslide.

good to meet ya rumple. funny how two dudes who found out about it due to this thread showed up at the same time to give it a try.

this place rules!
Posted: May 4, 2009 4:57 pm

No ,but we had a threesome/rotisserie with your mother in the trailer park out back. She was great and was very appreciative when we shaved her back.

i know because i FUCKED HER TO DEATH!
Posted: May 5, 2009 2:40 pm
They deliver according to their menu, but certainly not to any neighborhood I'd want to be a delivery man in.

Cannot wait to try this place. Am sick AGAIN today so I ate tortilla soup from the Mexican joint on Perkins...and it really wasn't all bad!
Posted: May 5, 2009 2:50 pm
Those tacos were so good I was practically in tears. They're pretty too!
Posted: May 9, 2009 5:09 pm
Went again today. They got chicken wing burritos! Nutz! Plus all the Jarritos flavors!
Posted: May 11, 2009 12:27 am

oh. wow.

actually had a somewhat disappointing lunch there yesterday...the lady wasnt there and there were 2 cholos doing the cooking instead...they didnt seem to be wanting to give it their all for some gringos...food was cold and portions tiny. I cried a little. But I will not give up on Tarascos, I know it was just an off afternoon. Still the best.
Posted: May 16, 2009 3:08 pm
b saucier had cold tacos there the other day, too. and i'm not a fan of their burritos- mostly rice & beans, barely any meats.

tortas are the bomb, and I'm still trying new things.

seems to be a little inconsistent, though...
Posted: May 20, 2009 1:52 pm
tortas, tacos killed it today. QUITE GOOD!
Posted: May 20, 2009 2:35 pm
Hells yeah...postive vibrations from Tarascos once again! Gotta go soon!

Little write-up in the back of the Memphis Flyer this week praising this place.
Posted: Jul 3, 2009 8:46 am

wouldn't the bones really ruin the experience?
Posted: Nov 15, 2009 2:55 pm
And it's closed now.
Posted: Nov 15, 2009 5:53 pm
The electrifying conclusion to this thread made me very unhappy.

Please reopen, oh Tarascos.

The most unfortunate news last weekend in Memphis Mexican Dining was my initial enjoyment of the tortilla soup at Las Delicias followed by my first bout of true food poisoning. At least I can still get the "guacamole" there as Ryan ate that and was fine.

did a Mayas run and all was bueno. love their chips.
Posted: Nov 18, 2009 5:48 pm
Las Delicias....just stick with tacos and giant beers. If you follow those guidelines, your visit will be an enjoyable one.
Posted: Nov 18, 2009 11:26 pm
beers are large. and cheap. si.

am i correct in thinking this is near or behind the very great and very closed "Jesters" bar on lamar?
Posted: Nov 20, 2009 10:56 am
ahh... the Jesters bar turned into a black motorpsycho clubhouse and now i think is (maybe?) an appliance store?

Did you go to Jesters? I was a fan of just driving by...
