We have an extended Family Reunion every year at Christmas. About 75 people, everyone brings a dish. My stomach acts weird for days afterwards. There are many, many things on the table that you don't know what they are, but you eat them anyway. A sampling includes hash brown casserole, many different varieties of green bean casseroles, lasagna, lots of ham, KFC (from the lazy bastards), home-made deviled ham, chicken and asparagus casserole, and the famous Poppyseed Chicken...Ritz Crackers, chicken, poppyseeds, and cream of chicken soup...layered.
I make old southern lady 7 Layer Salad:
2 things of bagged lettuce (convienent!)
5 stalks of celery, chopped
1 red onion, chopped
(some people do a layer of green pepper, but I don't like it)
2 small cans of those little tiny english peas
lots of mayonnaise spread all over that mess (Hellman's of Kraft)
lots of shredded cheddar on top of the mayo
1 pound of cooked bacon, chopped (coup de grace!)
Layer in deep lasagna pan and refrigerate overnight.
No cleanup of pan. It's always practically licked clean.
