I get the steak sandwich with gravy and cheese, fries, 3-piece liver (about six actually) and another side of gravy.

I love the steak sandwich.....and to me, it's the best fast food fried chicken in town......and the livers......perfection.
I know what's for dinner.......

Don't be sorry. I'm Poplar and Cleveland bound, brown.
Posted: Jan 25, 2006 10:55 pm
That is the bestest one IMHO......

That was the only one I ever KNEW of.

Fries and a lil bowl of their peppery gravy. Also, chicken livers.

(this is fiery)

Thirds on the steak Sandwich. Used to go to the one on Highland all the time. Good Tea and Pink Lemonaid, too.

Posted: Jan 26, 2006 11:30 pm
how's the steak sammich w/ cheese ? I'm always afraid to try b/c the combo of pickle slaw and gravy is darn near perfect
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 11:31 pm
and yes, I DO lick the gravy out of the foil wrapper.
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 11:34 pm
Get that steak sandwich with everything...cheese, gravy, slaw and pickles.
That is the food of the gods!! Definitely on my last meal list. When you have the flu, or a bad cold, that stuff'll cure you.
And, yep Windy, wrapper licking is the only way!

Best Steak Sandwich. Ever.

You know? I don't think I ever had their chicken. Just the Steak Sandwich and a chilli dog, I think.
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 5:47 pm
never tried the steak.
and incidentally
Worst French Fries. Ever.
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 5:48 pm
The steak sandwich is really good with the gravy, but probably a bigger gut bomb than 8 cheese krystals with onions.

Worst French Fries. Ever.

That is why you drench them in that funky gravy!
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 6:15 pm
Not to get off topic, but speaking of gut bombs and fries, I really miss Central Park.
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 6:36 pm
I went there a couple of times. I really can't remember eating all that much at all in that mid-80's, Central Park era. That was the era I discovered Chinese food over at that place on Cleveland near North Parkway, across from the old Sears. Moo Goo Gai Pan!!!!
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 7:03 pm
...and that place would be called the Dah Wah. I know this cause my dad used to takes there alot. Its still there if Im not mistaken. They had all these little booths made out of cheap ass wood paneling and each one had some of those beads hanging down for privacy.

I, too, miss Central Park. There was a lone holdout on Jackson Ave. towards Raleigh. Gone now. I liked the fact that they only had 88 cent burgers, 29 cent fries and cokes.
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 7:58 pm
Dah Wah had the BESTEST won ton soup I ever had.....but when you went into those booths, the roaches on the table would look at you like you were interrupting something

You right.
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 8:32 pm
anyone remember beef & bird? i think it was the precursor to central park -- same tiny drive-up joints...
Posted: Jan 27, 2006 9:12 pm
Pirtles gravy is good. I agree with that. good mash potatos too.

Dah Wah was good for some underage drinkin too.

Da Wah is where I discovered Chinese food, too. That place was exotic as all hell with those booths. It was kind of scary.
The man that ran the barber shop next door was nuts.
We also went to Nam King way out Summer Avenue.

YUM'S!! Deserves a whole thread to itself...

JP Gravy raised me. I dont know how jack does it. Every sunday after a good lecture at church I awaken to the drive through on highland and all I cared about was the fucking gravy. Whether it was on a bisquit(prefered) or on some mash potatoes it was vahalla or heaven. The gizzards were a little tuff though.
