Which brand? I usually end up with something like Pace or Old El Paso, and it always tastes like shit after about two days in the fridge.

HOMEMADE

or the salsa from Aztec Willies (sorry snooty Portlanders, it is great)

ROAST the tomatoes and peppers, por favor.

I got a mango AND pineapple salsa from whole foods that was super tasty. Sweet and spicy as hell.

Aztec Willie's?

Well, I never.

Dude. I am not lying. The salsa not the pico. Try it and you'll flip.

Homemade...but if you can buy any salsa that's not cold...don't go for it.

i like to make my own. mango habenero salsa = the fucking shit.

but store bought - i like anything with a LOT of spice. should burn your mouth like going down on a cheap mexican hooker.

Hell on The Red is the shit. My dad has sworn by it for years. I am a sucker for tring new salsas...I get burned most of the time.

My advice...don't buy anything that wasn't made in Texas or Mexico and even then it's dicey. Been making my own lately and it's getting even better. It's always nice to keep a can or two of the Herdez stuff around for "emergencies" but don't pay over $1 a can for it. Cheaper at the Mexican stores of course.

Oh and Pace and Old El Paso suck no matter where they're from!

Agreed.

mrs renfros

Yes! The garlic kind!

I second Mrs. Renfro's for store-bought stuff. Tastier than most others. The Hot variety is pretty hot and the Hot Habanero is damn near inedible. In a good way.

Herdez makes a guacamole salsa that is quite nice. tomatillo heavy but not too heavy.
Posted: Apr 11, 2018 11:08 pm

I bought a bottle of that guac salsa. It's a tad something, but, I'm digging it.
