That's odd, My Kajun SS 7inch is black & that pressing is not listed there. Weird....
Posted: Jul 9, 2005 11:19 pm

that pressing 400 black 100 pink is on die slaughterhaus records

Posted: Jul 9, 2005 11:50 pm | Edited by: peepstemple

shattered never put that out empty records did that I made a few of those to sell at the chicago black out but with no label name on them
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 12:26 am

i dont think Billy Ripken aka "fuckface" or Matt Nokes would agree. No Beckett 7" price guide as of yet. Plus Beckett is on my COLD list.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 2:04 am

hmmm... buy packs of 5 records at a time, without knowing what you're buying... but maybe in there is a cal ripkin rookie card, i mean Kajun SS chartreuse vinyl record, and you're set for life.

can we stop making limited editions and just try to get more people to hear good music please?

No shit. Usually "Limited to 500" just means "I'm broke and 500 is the minimun they will press and after I blow my money on the 1st 500 I have no intention of reinvesting the money into a 2nd pressing due to financial and attention span restraints"

Also... I dont think it would be a bad idea to include bubble gum with a 45... or at least a hit of acid.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 2:28 am

Hey Eric Im trying damn hard to get people hear the records me and Alix are putting out. But Also I think making different covers/pressings is really fun. And as long as the records keep selling they will stay in print. And no sir 100 is the min. they will press
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 2:54 am

Matt Nokes
didn't that fucker play for the TIgers back in the day.
fucking Chet Lemon style

I could go for a repress of the King Louie The 69th And The Harahan Crack Combo 7".
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 3:24 am

People are hearing the music - that's why we repress it... just on pretty colors!
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 3:44 am

great- i know you're getting the stuff out there. folks are loving it!

i never did press up the king louie 7"... just sold the ones that louie had already pressed up. i'll talk to louie about a re-press. good idea!

actually, i don't care if you press up 3 copies of a record. that's cool.

i like the hanatarash (or boredoms?) cd that they glued into the cd player in a bmw. to get the cd, you had to buy the car.

limited.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 5:52 am

You're out of print.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 6:06 am

Shattered is awesome.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:13 am

I like doing hand-made one of a kind covers, then selling as many as you can stand to make. It's fun for me.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:48 am

If a 7" is the new baseball card, a cdr is a joke and a half, especially at the ridiculous price of $7 or more for a hand numbered copy of what is the current equivalent of a demo tape. Would you pay that kind of scratch for a demo tape? Go to http://www.slsknet.org/download.html and get SoulSeek and i have a funny feeling anything Jay Reatard is involved with is available free of charge.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:53 am

My personal favorite is their media page, you can see from this all the attention their "OOP" releases are getting.

My pal was saying that it costs the same to press 500 copies or 1000 copies at the pressing plant he's using. Scratch out the matrix into, fold a different set of covers and a 2nd press is at hand.

I like 2nd and subsequent pressings that are smaller runs. That way people who missed it can still get a copy to hear, and the nerds gotta buy it to complete their collection.

find a handfull of groups that wanna repress but cant afford it and go in on a series of 12" comps. i just wanna hear the music man. i could give a shit how rare my copy is. rock and roll is meant to be played, not leaned up against the wall lookin cool, not even breakin a sweat.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 5:45 pm

matt nokes was that half puerto rican cat with the skin problem. me thinks. but he aint no chet lemon.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 5:53 pm

your buddy is wrong 1000 singles is about 400 bucks more with covers.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 6:49 pm

Jay, where do you and Alix get yours pressed?
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 9:37 pm

hey broke assHOLE - the Reatards cds were atually printed CDs, that cost around $300 to make.
Ya, and we get no attention. that's why we sell out of our records in a month... now go under a new no namer and talk smack.

i made the media page so i could show the world our fantastic time in Chicago. so wahhh! thanks for looking though.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 9:42 pm

those pics rule. solid LOUIE!
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 9:48 pm

we get our records done at united... only a few people that work there so you always know who you're talking to, and they're real nice.

totally solid louie... shattered is gonna do a rhodes diablo 7" - louie's new glamabilly band!
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 9:49 pm

Thank you so much for your timely response. Now please explain how $7 for a 25 cent cdr that costs 80 cents to mail isnt consumer RAPE. Or is your "hand numbering" supposed to be worth 6 clams?

July 5th Terror Visions CDR orders are being taken now. This release is100 hand numbered CDRs and once they are gone - they are gone.

Why not go ahead and charge $15 for your hyped up 7"s? its in line with the profit margin on your classy cdr's.

Just so you know, I love the records, but don't like having my wallet raped. Please don't tell me that I don't have to buy the shit then, because I already know that, that's why I just downloaded your groovy cdr for free last night.

I never told you not to buy them. calm down. it's sunday, relax. and life is so stressfull! have some fun. lighten up. love your mom.

all money made from the label is going toward putting out more records, is that bad? the help of selling the CDs and CDrs is going to put out a Tokyo Electron LP, but I'm sure you don't care, you can just download it.

Next month - BEAT BEAT BEAT CDrs - same ones they sold on tour, made for people who couldn't get them.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:01 pm

Actually it costs over $1 to mail not including the mailers and such.
we don't send things media unless it's a large package. media sucks for 7"s.

shattered = quality
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:04 pm

That Beat Beat Beat CDR is good.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:06 pm

I'm sorry, I was just being a dick. I made my point and its good enough. thats what I figured, it's like investing in the label or something. And you do put out a ton of good stuff so, fair enough. Honestly, I was just trying to bait you but you proved to be above that. Classy.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:11 pm

I'd certainly never make more than 250 copies of a record, because I wouldn't want the bastard things taking up space around the home once I'd guilted 30 or so people into buying the ones that sold. The Brad Disposal Method wouldn't work for me as I don't have my own garden.

meow meow now...

the beat beat beat CDR is REALLY good

i must not be a true collecter.i dont give a shit what color the fucking record is.i just wanna pop it in and rock out to it.
numbered and colored dont make a shit to me.
and if i cant get it on anything else, then a cdr is just as good.
Posted: Jul 10, 2005 10:31 pm

Hey clubber, the Busy Signals singles probably won't be out for another coupla months or so...the recordings are still being mixed, I guess. Thanks for having us at your place and sorry I kept almost knocking that goddamn TV over.
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 12:15 am

hanatarash (or boredoms?) cd that they glued into the cd player in a bmw

It was Merzbow, hence the "Merzcar". It would have been extra nice to glue the volume knob to 10 and some how trick the cd playter to stay ON. Guh.
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 7:00 pm

Didn't they do that 100 CD set as well?
I'm gonna glue a single to the pavement and anyone who wants to buy it has to buy THE ENTIRE PLANET!
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 7:04 pm

Yeah on that 100 cd thing. I'm still looking for the aquamania (?) one where he sampled all the 60s and 70s psych stuff. I heard one song on the radio once and it was pretty good.

I think Pulse Demon is good and probably the only one I need. I've got a couple though.

Best Merzbow moment was listening to another one of the Relapse Records ones at vol:9, playing darts in the dark on acid.

I second what Satanic Chicken War said. I could care less about collecting, or even buying, records anymore. I would rather copy shit off my friends, or DL it for free. I was digging through my records that I left at my parent's house, and I have this "special" stack that's all colored vinyl, o.o.p. Rip Off singles, ect. al. Geek collecting is cool, but.....kinda lame, too.

CD's are fuckin' up the good old days of taping a bunch of tracks off different rare records from older people's collections and making a massive mix tape that you would listen to for years on end. Nothing like the sound of vinyl crackle coming through the earphones on a Walkman off a cheap cassette tape......yumm.....I was exposed to most of the Killed By Death shit via this procedure, and now that I own all that shit on various other formats, it just tain't the same....
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 7:12 pm

tapes are getting so hard to get in england. I went to Woolworths for tapes and ended up having to go round the specialist audio shops, most of which could would have had to order them specially. I have my cassette deck wired up to the computer and I make tapes of mp3's to blast out in the car.
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 10:02 pm

I'm putting out a single with my cock in the hole.
That way if you want to buy the single, you pretty much gotta give me a handjob for it.
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 10:28 pm

Nothing like the sound of vinyl crackle coming through the earphones on a Walkman off a cheap cassette tape

Agreed! I'm still doin' it too.
Posted: Jul 11, 2005 10:36 pm

5 pack of 7"s would be fun, i bet the gum would be hard and crunchy. Garbage Pail Kids style. tottal yuck-ville !!

How are cds fucking it up? You can make a mix cd.

ha! while reading through all this i kept glancing over my shoulder at the 300 7"s sitting on my coffee table. as far as the collecting bullshit...whatever, but for me and my roommate 300 was the logical number, because: a) neither of us make much money and doing these is a pretty serious financial burden b) the band is unheard of and we don't want to sit on a box of dusty records for the rest of our lives. it takes up too much space in our already cramped house. c) at least 300 people get the chance to hear a band that they otherwise probably wouldn't. but, if there's still interest after these are gone, we'll press up another 200 or whatever. fuck paying insane ebay prices for 1 year old records. actually, fuck paying any insane ebay prices. we're doing this for fun and because we think people should hear this band, not to give collectors a fix.
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 5:26 pm

what band is it?
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 5:29 pm

"Are 7" records the new baseball card?"

I think this has actually been going on since the late 1940's.
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 5:29 pm

they're called the horribly wrong (as featured in joe pestilence's "bands that need to put out a record NOW!" thread. they played with the spits here in Bloomington last year). don't worry, spam is coming within the next couple days. we're finishing covers today.
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 7:22 pm

here's a song from the single. <a href="http://www.myspace.com/spinthebottlerecords"></a> make us your friend too!
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 7:27 pm

goddammit.

here's a song from the single.

http://www.myspace.com/spinthebottlerecords

there's another really short one (2nd P.A.) at: http://www.myspace.com/thehorriblywrong

the other recordings on there are demos or something. they don't sound half as good as the single.
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 7:27 pm

oh yea, make us your friend!

i'm alienating out over here.
Posted: Jul 12, 2005 11:12 pm

Yo, like....thanks for ripping off my song dood!

ebay has really changed the landscape of the whole limmited edition...it used to be fun to do a record the first houndred or so had colored vinal. or a hand made cover...you knew that who you sold it to was gonna keep it and that was just looked at as thir record to listen to, now kids e-mail me for differant pressings and some of them i don't even have for myself...a few years ago when solid sex did my first 7'' for KLOMB, it was kool that they had three differant covers...then i realized that the same kids were bying' them over again and NOLA fans could'nt get a copy...i like what SHATTERED has done with the SS. it's not like they printed 200 WITH DIFERANT COVERS. it's constantly been in print and for every differant color vinal there are a few houndred pressed...
Posted: Oct 21, 2005 4:42 am

hey lou... got some copies with yer name on it.
you still in nola?
