the power supply on my mac dual g4 crapped out a while ago and the button on the front wouldn't turn it off, nor would any of the menus in the OS (which wouldn't matter if it's frozen.) so i would unplug it to turn it off and then use an older g3 keyboard with a start button to restart it. didn't lose any data. it's not the best for the machine, but if ya gotta do it, ya gotta do it.

i'd unplug and see if it starts back up. if not, maybe yr power supply is fried (about a $300 fix from apple, but you may be able to do it yrself for cheaper.)

hope that helps.
