Another victim of SF tech gentrification .... Dwyer is moving to LA and calling the band quits.

See, Google IS evil.

it is a big fat fucking bummer that everyone's getting priced out of this city. last saturday, we went to a warehouse party in oakland to see Blatz (fucking amazing!) but also a bit sad to remember that shows like that used to happen across the bay in SF all the fucking time - as well as all the warehouse/basement/garage/eviction/generator shows... there are maybe two venues left here that put on solid shows, and one of the calendar for one of them is gradually leaning more and more toward dance nights, since they're sure to bring in 2 or 3 x the crowd as a handful of bands will. the city even won't let bars allow djs unless the place is big enough to accommodate a dance floor. at least oakland still has all that - it's just a drag to have to dodge thugs & stray gunshots rather than belligerent drag queens to get to it.

BLATZ!

It was a blast! Exactly as good n bad as you'd want em to be! They got back together to play a benefit at Gilman for one of the guys from Filth who has cancer and played the warehouse the following night.

When China took over Hong Kong, was it all of the immigrants that fueled the realestate bubble, or all of the fleeing corporations?

I bet the hiatus won't last long. They're work horses.

hiatus = only 6 albums next year.

Didn't Abe barf all over their gear and they thought it was funny?
Posted: Jan 3, 2014 11:07 am

Yep! Just a mic stand though. Dwyer laughed and said it was cool cuz it was the girl's stand. She did not agree. Also, Abe puked because he smelled my fart

Crowdpleasers!

DEAR OH SEES FANS,
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.
THE BAND IS NOT BREAKING UP.
THIS IS JUST A WELL DESERVED BREAK AND A TRANSITIONAL PERIOD.
A NEW THEE OH SEES LP WILL BE OUT EARLY 2014
AND WE WILL SEE WHERE THE LIVE SHOW GOES FROM THERE...
UNTIL THEN, BE WELL
JPD

Original post, Dec. 19: Last night, Thee Oh Sees played yet another blistering show to a sold-out Great American Music Hall. In between songs, frontman John Dwyer said something alarming: "This will be the last Oh Sees show for a long while," he told the crowd. "So dig in."

San Francisco has long been filling up with noobs...but now we face the most dangerous, the most egregious and blandest of them all...
people with lots of money.

NOBODY can square-up a joint like rich people.
