Goner Message Board / ???? / Oblivians in Memphis this Saturday
Posted: Feb 17, 2013 10:07 pm
I'm gonna be in town from New Orleans from Saturday afternoon to Sunday early afternoon-ish. Can anyone give me recommendations on what to do before or after the show? I've been to Memphis a couple times but I feel like all I've seen is the Stax Museum and the Goner store. What else is there? Food, shows, weird shit...anything that I can fit in within that 24 hours.

Excited about the show. Haven't seen them since the HiTone Memphis '09 shows with the Gories.

The Sun tour is worthwhile if you haven't done it before. Also doesn't take long.

Sun can be fun. its THE room. Thrift stores, old Zinnies, Lamplighter, Buccaneer, Shangri-La. Drive down Summer Ave and stop at whatever looks interesting. Go find Abe!

we've got some cool cemetery's that are free and open on weekends.

Elmwood cemetery is cool but the military cemetery off of Jackson is my favorite. I think you can find directions to both thru a google search.

Also go to Alex's Tavern during the day if you want to sit in the dark and watch sports. Good for hangover.

Elmwood has the inventor of the Vienna Sausage burried there and veterans of every war since the Revolution. The one on Jackson is great, too.

Best place to go post-show? Bucc, Lamplighter, Poplar?

Dunno, but afterwards we'll be partying next door to Murphy's. And by partying, I mean putting up gear and drinking the last of our beer.

Chris wouldn't have wanted anyone to not ride their bikes. Ride Hard. Party Hard.
