Anything offa "Killer". Love that record.
Posted: Feb 2, 2013 1:28 am
under my wheels is a cool tune. dead babies is killer. eighteen is undeniable. i was gonna say i am not much of an alice cooper fan but i also enjoy no more mr nice guy, schools out for the summer, welcome to my nightmare, etc so i guess i am sort of a fan. still something about that fucker rubs me the wrong way. i like his music, but i dont like him, not even sure entirely why. his radio show is better than most of the shit on mainstream airwaves too.

I don't get the Coop. My cousin took me to see him and some crappy band named vinny Vincent invasion at the mid south coliseum when I was 13. I guess he's important for the theatrics. I'm going with overrated

No way, Cole! Check out "Love it to Death" and "Killer"! "Caught in a Dream" is one of the best rock songs of all time.

And the first 2 lps on zappas label are great as well
Posted: Feb 3, 2013 10:17 am
I dig Easy Action a lot more than Pretties For You, but yeah, the Straight Records stuff is great. Need original pressings of both.

Here's an even better place to start:

OK he's important. I'm just done with classic rock. My new thing is ordering cassette demos. Right now some badass garage or hardcore band is recording a demo for me and I have no time to listen to eighteen or comfortably numb for the 1000th time. The only exception to my "no classic rock rule" is the Beatles, stones, and Asian Steve Perry.

Your blowing it then. Love it to death and killers are essential.
Posted: Feb 3, 2013 7:19 pm
if you can hip us to a cassette demo of a 21st century garage or hardcore band of songs as good as anything on the first 5 Alice Cooper albums, I wanna hear 'em...

Early Coop rules tha roost.

You can own the first 5 Lp's and be set up nice...theres a reason
we talk about those releases after 40 years.

Till then....theres this...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5OEgmVWkN8

If anying, Alice Cooper is underrated. First 5 were all great, but there's also good shit later on (even the new wave moves on "Clones" - check Arman's links above). There are some really cool hardcore bands going right now, but none of them will ever be able to touch "Halo of Flies."

Scored "Killer" at a flea market last weekend. Yep.....I'm an asshole. This record is freakin' great.
Posted: Feb 23, 2013 12:39 am
" Halo of Flies" is soooo great.

"Killers" is perhaps my fave of theirs (they were still a band then)

Altho...."Love it to death" and "Schools Out" follow superclose behind and sometimes overtakes "Killers"

Its nice to see a new coop recruit...just know that they was being called overrated and all show even as far back as 1972 so most people had to play catch-up with their catalog.

The band itself ends at "Muscle of Love" but there is still good stuff scattered around after that. That is truly when the "show" took over.

These will do you nicely...and are usually pretty cheap to find...

Pretties for You (1969)
Easy Action (1970)
Love It to Death (1971)
Killer (1971)
School's Out (1972)
Billion Dollar Babies (1973)
Muscle of Love (1973)

If anybody's got cheap copies of the first two, get at me. I only ever see the represses for like 15-18 dollars. Eff that. Also looking for a minty copy of "Killer" with the calendar or poster or whatever.

Reckless in Chicago ALWAYS had Pretties for You. I got it there for 2.99.
Posted: Feb 23, 2013 2:20 pm
I got "Billion Dollar Babies" there for about that. It's much nicer than the copy I had before, too. Did not see "Pretties".

"Return of the Spiders" is the greatest song the Stooges never recorded. Mainly because there is no way in hell Scott could play that song.
