Do you guys get out of school/work for hurricane? I haven't had a snow day since 2009.
Posted: Oct 29, 2012 6:27 pm
well, i don't mean to speak for them, but tunnels and freeways are closed down, as well as subway, so...
Posted: Oct 29, 2012 6:32 pm
Yeah no mass transit means no school and no work at least for everyone I know. Closed today and tomorrow. We'll see about Wednesday

my block is fine but just walked around the corner and whoa
Hudson River seems to be coming up my cross street (Jersey Ave) to a block away (Bright Street)
and then in the other direction water is quickly headed towards us on our street (York Street)
thank god we live on the top 2 floors

paddy, how's your situation?
Posted: Oct 30, 2012 12:40 pm
Hope everything's ok Paddy, and that you got some more beers.

Looted some beers last night (Heiniken, in the classic storm tradition). Done a lot of bucket brigade action. No power no gas. At least we got a propane propane grill.
And for the top important issue yes the neighborhood kids will trick or treat tonight. Power be damned

Paddy! We got our power back today! And the internets!
And, we have gas for cooking. Just cleaned out the fridge and made an enormous pot of veggie soup.
You guys need anything? Come over!

Oh, and be careful. 7pm curfew in effect, due to muggings & lootings

had an awesome crew of PSE&G guys come by last night and turn on our gas. so we are pretty much back to normal. We made them a pot of hot coffee. dude who turned on our gas has a house on the shore that is totaled - lost everything - but he's been working around the clock here since the storm. best dudes.
finally got to watch tv last night - fuckiing crazings
