You know? And it is a give take kind of deal...Howlin Wolf played frat parties with some realy shitty frat blues bands I'm sure...some of those lame frat boy players got gigs in successfull rock bands and helped grow the Howlin Wolf legend.....I mean all of those Chitlin Circuit guys wanted to get on the regular white people circuit which was realy lame by comparison...Lightnin Hopkins played for dumb ass college kids who would complain that he couldn't play guitar or even change on time...the same thing goes on now...there is an intermingling of people trying to get ahead and have a good time, so you get stuff like The Oblivians recording at The Black Keys studio (who I'm sure are great guys, and I'm sure Dan Auerbach is a realy cool professional musicians dude) and that's fucking awesome! You also get way more successfull musicians, who aren't trying to help any community, but like to reference underground music/communities because it makes good copy and gives them the illusion of "legitimacy"....they will help these bands in some ways and keep them down in others...but it doesn't realy have to be a succesfull musicians, this could be some highschool musician starting his own band, doesn't have to be some "evil big wig"...most people realy only give a shit about themselves, that's the norm, that's easy...that's fine.
The only way to discern this intermingling of cultures and corporate perspectives is if you are an "outsider" to all of the bullshit and social contexts...I'm not an "outsider," I'm out for a good time...I don't give a shit about any of this crap.....but people twenty years from now looking back on the music of today are realy "outsiders" in a way...even if you were there...you can see the realy stupid, unnecessary, unnatural shit...even if you were right there eating those fatty corporate canibal chickens....that's what keeps things balanced if anything.
Let people have their day in the sun, because the come down is a bitch...that's when shit starts to get real.
