these dudes from the 90s got a good grip on how to rock it in 2012. the sample in the chorus is sweet as fuck.

crucial! (sorry man, don't wanna cramp your style but it just is)
I once dj-d when we got the complete old Anticon posse come over performing in The Vera, and the Anticon dj''s - some of I thought were briljant! - those dumb wiggers (!) came asking what I was spinning cause they really dug it.

'Something from an area you know, or don't know obviously.

Jesus Christ!

(O, never mind the intro babble, it's over before you know it)

Only the two first PUTS albums are cool, then they went under in too big a blunt.

even more crucial

Tha Alkaholiks + The Beatnuts

Saw them both in Austin back in dem 90s - both were real good and I'm not a big hip-hop head.

the only living rapper worth a good goddamn is DANNY BROWN and now that pitchfork is steady on his dick god knows what type of overexposure lies ahead. fortunately, he seems to be getting better with each outing. Any rapper that freely and enthusiastically says in an interview (while on molly) that Love's 'Forever Changes' is the greatest album of all time, and still wrapps about how 'your th typa nigga wearin fuckin crocs inside the walmart' has got my download dollars.

for christ sake the guy wraps over a This Heat song and KKKILLS IT

just checked out that killer mike vid up there. i can't detect any b-boyism / real hip-hop sound in that shit at all. especially not by way of krs 1.

just watched that danny brown "grown up" vid. pretty good, but that re-work of the "walk on the wild side" chords that tribe called quest already sampled was super transparent.

Soul Position: cool beat, corny lyrics, pretty good name.

Isaiah Toothtaker: eh.

i don't like that clubby not-really hip-hop shit too much, kathleen.

this is all i've ever checked out from this dude. i don't think it gets much better than this. good flow, hilarious lyrics, a hook AND it's legit hip-hop. worth watching til the end:

I see a lot of white people into hip hop, but not a lot of black people into metal ( or punk). Hmmm...

Why do you think this is?

I only listen to white rappers. Anything else would be racist.

IQ studies show people into rap tend to be on lower scales than people into say, classical music and Radiohead, prog rock, etc.

Interesting that

Maybe that explains why it is so difficult for some of us to get into rap (with extremely limited exceptions), no matter that I've actually tried and wanted to get into rap at different times of my life, but just can't. I hate the shit. Maybe because I'm an old guy and just can't "get it". Or maybe because I grew up in Memphis and it just sounds like ebonics set to music to me so I'm not impressed. Whatever...

But I do like that Old Droog video, but mainly because of Edan. Thanks Joe, I watched that many times before going to a job I just quit to leave for Europe.
