Goner Message Board / ???? / Austin TX hotel recommendations?
Posted: May 25, 2011 11:54 pm
The wife and I are looking at going down the week of July 4.

I stayed at the Days Inn of I-35 years ago, can't remember a thing about it and don't know if it's even still there anyway.

Any ideas? Not looking at financing for a room.

What's your price range? The Sheraton that Bruce mentioned is nice. There's a LaQuinta on 11th that is close to everything downtown.

The Days Inn is still there. It's not very nice, but there's something about it that I really like.

I stay at the Super 8 off I-35 most of the time. The rooms are clean, rates are reasonable, and it's an easy stumble or cheap cab ride back if you're meeting people downtown.

The nicer downtown hotels often have good walk-in weekend rates that rival online travel sites.

La Quinta on 11th does have a iron that makes waffles in the shape of Texas ... so that's gotta be a big plus

fuck it, splurge and stay at the San Jose (next door to the Austin Motel mentioned above, but no blood stains on the ceiling)...nice pool, poolside drinks and Buck Owens concert posters hangin' in the room. Cool place.
