Goner Message Board / ???? / In Honor of Teenage Hate's Rerelease

I hung out with Ryan Wong and Matt Army last night: ate burritos, drank booze, listened to records and talked about when the Gamblers had their reunion at the South End and Jay blasted everybody with a fire extinguisher ending the show and making everyone want to kill him.

The new DU that Ryan recorded out in the desert is ass ripping. Straight up cholla in your rectum.

Same here... but thanks, Jay and MRR for my CD copy... it still has the post-it with "RY" in Tim's writing on it. Soundtrack to many burritos and booze sessions in San Francisco...

Was pretty good.

Waiting for Something had good extra interviews posthumous from family and friends. Great to see on the big screen: Alicja, Alix, Lindey, Andria, Bomar, Eric & Zac at the Lamplighter (was in the orig. small screen youtubes, I believe, but on the big screen, GREAT!). Sisters were great and telling.
Some extra show footage that seemed a little gratuitous (if I remember correctly, the same songs "all over again"), but as I told my wife, "well, this is it; you ain't gonna see him anymore".

First time I've ever seen Larry Hardy. Thought he was more grizzled, but he's our age.

P.S., Goner:
There are some releases I want, including this ( I already have Teenage Hate on record, and have had "Fuck Elvis..." for a while). I still want it; don't care if it's clear or black. Just want it. I'll have money one day soon. Please save me a copy of:
Quintron and this.
Or sell it if it's the last copy and dude has money. But please save me a copy until next week after I get paid.
Still serious about that Slayer box set, too.

Bazooka- hope not. It's from cassette. Ones we've sampled have been fine.

Or are you joking? (Always a good one in the world of lo-fi punk.)

Something IS wrong with the MP3 code deal... we're bugging United to get with it.

Eric Oblivian's (née Friedl) Goner Records shop acted as Reatard's library

Uh yeah...someone send them a timeline.

When are we going to put out a Goner Magazine already? Pitchfork is only so so.

"Eric Oblivian's (née Friedl) Goner Records shop acted as Reatard's library"

Is this also the first place he discovered his idol- Kurddt Cobain?
Posted: May 26, 2011 8:04 pm

yeah, it's called wipeout and you can get them on ebay. :)

Mailman finally came through! Listened to the whole 2nd LP while making dinner last night! Definitely a must have and the sound was a lot better than I was expecting after reading some of the comments. Can't believe this is the first time on vinyl! Thanks Goner!

Also, the most amusing part was that I heard the song where he sounds like Cobain.

I got your joke dude!! I was more thinking of the pitchfork reviewer. Not sure why I would let any of that filter into my brain as valid though....

So what's the next Jay Reatard release gonna be? I assume Matador's got the rights to whatever unreleased stuff he recorded after he signed with them. There's no way they wouldn't put something out if they have the songs. Anybody got any info on this?
Posted: May 31, 2011 3:25 pm

There's an album and a 45 that I think completes his "Shattered Records Singles Club" or whatever it was that he had planned. 1st Lost Sounds 45 is coming from Goner, Lost Sounds "Greatest Hits" collection from Fat Possum.

Thanks Eric.

But what do you mean by "there's an album"? There is a full album's worth of unreleased songs? Are these the last songs he recorded? Were they supposed to be the songs to follow-up Watch Me Fall?
