Hethurrr and I will be there this coming weekend through next. We got lots of stuff planned from San Diego to Bay area, but anything like weirdo buildings (Tail O the Pup, etc...) and other oddball stuff we should know about? Oki Dog is gone right?

Discuss...

Oh, and shows too!

Paul’s SF Suggestions:

Go buy some books at City Lights and then have a drink across the street at Vesuvio:

http://www.citylights.com/
http://www.vesuvio.com/

De Young Museum has the Birth of Impressionism, which is a really big deal - you need advance tix, I believe:

http://deyoung.famsf.org/

Go to the Tonga Room - it might not be around much longer. You can take the cable car, there, too:

http://www.tongaroom.com/

Shalimar, my favorite Middle Eastern food (not that I'm any kind of expert). Not much ambience, but oh, the food. Cheap, too:

http://www.shalimarsf.com/

After that, go a couple blocks down to Lefty O'Doul's for some piano bar action:

http://www.leftyodouls.biz/

The new California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park is supposed to be pretty spectacular, haven't been yet.

http://www.calacademy.org/

Buy records at Amoeba, take the cruise down Haight. I like Rooky Ricardo's too, in the Haight/Fillmore area. The guy sells some great homemade comps in different genres.

Gotta go up to the top of Twin Peaks if you haven't before...

Musee Mechanique at the Wharf is always fun. Get out of there after that, though:

http://www.museemechanique.org/

Go see ECSR, The Oh Sees, The Fresh & Onlys, Sic Alps, and Ty Segall at Serra Bowl (Daly City) on Saturday 7/3.

Stop for late night burritos at El Farolito:

http://www.elfarolitoinc.com/

OK, that should keep you busy for a while…

Wow. That's fangtastic. We've got some folks over and we're just about to watch the first couple of episodes of the latest season. I love that show. One of the funniest on tv.

This is a cool place to kill an hour or two in L.A. Have tea with the Russian lady amongst portraits of cosmonaut canines upstairs...

MJT is amazing.

Danzig's house is rad looking. right around the corner from a couple great bars...the drawing room...3 drink wasted for under 15 bux. and ye rustic has great wings.

And I don't care who you are-anyone can have fun at jumbos.

Spahn ranch is a tuff one but, the LaBianca house is drive-by-able at 3311 Waverly Drive in Los Feliz. This is all you can really see though.

You MUST go to Clifton's Cafeteria on Broadway in downtown LA!!! one of a kind interior!!! also, B-way itself has fantastic architecture. If you have time, go over and check out the Biltmore too.

in Monterey, there's a funky fish restaurant, locals destination, Monterey's Fish House, away from all the tourist stuff, east of town towards Seaside. If you don't eat there, lunch is good at Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing between Monterey & Sta Cruz -- you must cross over the little bridges west of Rte. One. Otherwise, Sta Cruz Diner is a good place to eat there --- once again, away from all the tourist/boardwalk crap.

in SF, take some time to check out the murals inside Coit Tower or go to the Beach Chalet (at the end of Golden Gate Park) for more nice murals and beer (food's expensive tho)

have fun

Clifton's Cafeteria

Oh shit! Yup...gotta go there. Great for people watching too. There's a well dressed old black man(Pimp-Like) always decked out in digital flashing signs that say godbless and peace wearing a crazy zebra striped or plain white cowboy hat.
