I have not sold my soul, only rented it for the evening. The Scion show is the first of July. For those of you who prefer Hoboken, there will be a show there the following night. It is not for Tools and will not be free.

Jahna, yeah, I got the info on Friday night while at Maxwells.

TA says there's decent public transportation nearby the venue. Pretty sure the address is 95 Kearny Ave., Kearny, NJ.

(Picked up tix online today, though they didn't have the address listed there.)
Posted: Jun 7, 2010 12:40 pm

BTW, here's the link to buy tix for the Kearny show:

anyone have more info on public transportation options from the city?

Got tix for me and a pal. may have room in the car for folks, may not. Definitely have room on my floor/guest bed, but not my couch. email me off list if you want to stay at my place and/or possibly get a ride.

From NYC zip 10001, via Jahna's Google directions, assuming a departure time of 8 PM on 7/2:

you can also take a PATH train to Newark station and then look for the 30 Bus - probably cheaper than the real commuter train from Penn Station - but you can drink on the real train

got my tix for Kearney -- extra stoked - DEADLY SNAKES are opening
Posted: Jun 8, 2010 9:01 am

The Deadly Snakes will be switching their name to Andre Either due to the fact that Max, the organist will not be there. Andre is the lead singer. Just so everybody knows.

as another option, google says the place is only a 22 minute walk from the Harrison PATH station... which isn't bad at all. that's not much further of a walk from the PATH than Maxwell's is from the Hoboken PATH.
Posted: Jun 9, 2010 5:45 pm

Is someone filling in on organ? Sure wish Max was doing this, though.
Posted: Jun 10, 2010 7:28 am

Yes, there will be an organist.

TONIGHT!
Posted: Jul 1, 2010 12:20 pm

Got a buddy from Portland whose in NYC working on the new Todd Haynes thing. He's going, solo, to the Kearny show. Dudes as righteous as they come. Any goners meeting up for pre-show drinks anywhere who might want to make the dude feel like less of a loner?
Posted: Jul 1, 2010 12:38 pm

also, if anybodies driving from NYC to the Kearny show and has room, my buddy could use a lift. Ass, Cash of Grass.....

More importantly, who filled in for Max?

Although it would be hard to imagine, I'll ask. Amels?

No, the guy who was playing guitar switched off between guitar and organ. And, there was no horn section. I think they are being accurate billing it as Andre Ethier and not the Deadly Snakes. Although they did a couple of tunes by them, it was definitely a different (more mellow) vibe.

Can't say folks who were looking forward to a somewhat reunion of the 'snakes were too happy. There was some heckling. (Not by me. I wasn't in the mood for mellow, and was hoping for more DS songs, but I didn't think it sucked.)

Ditto. Think I will stay out of the pit area tonight.

I'm wondering if it's gonna be quite as crazed tonight, given that it's in Kearny, rather than Brooklyn.

I love the Andre solo stuff but, yeah, I would have been bummed if I went in expecting to see a Snakes show. I don't know how it was advertised except for what Greg said here but, whatever, I wasn't there and I'll bet it was an awesome set regardless.

tonight was SO MUCH BETTER than last night! And so much more fun. Fuck those hipster douchebags who think they're too cool for Jersey. Both Andre's band and the Oblivians were so much more fun tonight! You missed out, assholes!
