I got four kids, so I rack up. I got a 14 year old who has been playing guitar for about a year now. He can't find anyone to jam with so he wants me to buy my 11 year old some drums. I might do that. I'll give the chick some money, put back some for savings and vacation, and buy some records.

I'm with Cole on this one. Good thing the kids already got guitars & drums here though I know they'll find a way a way to chew up a bunch of the coin.

Other than that wallpaper, paint, some new lighting fixtures, bookshelves and bills.

that's what i did, but in reverse.
took out a loan for a down payment, bought a house in november, got the big first time home buyer's tax credit, and am repaying the loan back with it.

good luck on house hunting!

Thanks. We've been trying for over a year. Knock on wood, this one will pan out. That tax credit will be nice too.

while doing our taxes it looked as if I owed over a grand but thanks to taking a few classes, it went down to $175. much more managable.

I owe. No interest free loan to the gov't this year. sorry gov't.
Posted: Feb 19, 2010 11:56 am

So the government gives you money?
Sounds like a nice racket.

Flying lessons? Unless you have a brood of kids, the govt should not be paying you back your OWN money. Adjust your withholdings, don't be a sucker.

ha. i get more money than i even pay in because i don't make dick for money. which is good because i cannot find a job to save my life right now, and it's not for lack of trying.

New boots, more RAM for my laptop, new dvd player & speakers, a few gifts for family, new threads (since virtually nothing I own can be considered "business casual" for my damn part-time job)- and most importantly, a long-overdue new tattoo. Nothing like being unemployed for 16 months & making $24,000 less a year than you used to amp up the old refund.

I'm going to hire a marketing firm to create a top notch DJ name for me.

a long-overdue new tattoo

could just be the liquor talking but I am a fan of this idea.

usually I get money back from the state and end up giving it all to the IRS plus some. this year I'm actually going to net enough for a sweet tattoo.
