you're confusing back up vocals with vocal harmony. BLOODCLOT!

the drummer of Little Barrie ; on their 1st singles+1st lp, he's awesome ; he sounds like some black soul girl from the 60s ; since he quit the band, they suck ; first time I listened to that band (Memories Well/Didn't Mean A Thing 7"), I thought it was some obscure black american band!!!

Michael Anthony.

yes! I was amazed at the number of folks that thought his absence from the VH reunion was not a big deal....those high pitched backups of his are as much the classic Van Halen sound as Eddie's solos and Dave's shenanigans....

Lou Rawls on Bring It On Home to Me

Don Rich!!!

Go back and watch some of those Buck Owens variety show episodes. no monitors, just leaning in from the side into buck's mike and absolutely perfect every time. truly amazing! I fucking love Don Rich!!!

Grant Hart, his backup vocals on Mould's tunes really add something..whereas Mould's backup vocals dont really add anything to Hart's songs...

Michael Anthony.

Yep. I just thought of how classic that little tricky harmony into the last chorus of "Panama" is:
"Got the feeling, power steering,
Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now!"

I guess that puts a little dent into Joe Machamer's assessment of Michael Anthony having the "easiest job in rock n roll."

the girls that sang back up on the Jimmy Soul records (the Azalias?).

E. always had someone doubling his vocals --- Charlie Hodge?

is that the same as back up? more like cover up

I dig those echoy girl back ups on the Garnett Mimms Little Bit Of Soap and Danny White's Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye.

And the ripping-a-bandaid-off screams the Tammys make on Egyptian Shumba. Any song would be improved by that.

Tammys also back up Lou Christie on his early records. Lou always had some bizarre yet effective backups on his stuff.
