columbus or cleveland looks like it would fit in their nicely......

Yes, Cleveland and Columbus are in the works.
Posted: Sep 16, 2009 12:14 pm

Did little brothers close? What's the room in Columbus for 300 or so people now?
Posted: Sep 16, 2009 12:17 pm

Yes! Milwaukee!!
Posted: Sep 16, 2009 12:25 pm

we never did get to have that reigning sound basement show in milwaukee when endless nameless got condemned...
Posted: Sep 16, 2009 12:31 pm

The Summit is the room to play of that size in Columbus. It would be great to have you in stumbling distance of my house...Greg-call Used Kids if you need help...Jon who works at Used kids also works at Bourbon St/Summit. Or I can help book it...Tom

little brother's is closed. current venue for 300 or so? that's a good question.

the basement might hold that many but they suck. the sightlines are totally blocked throughout the place.

skully's holds that many. they get some decent shows.

i'd say ask the boys from the cheater slicks when you see them at gonerfest. or gene mullet. i'm fairly new to cowtown.
Posted: Sep 16, 2009 12:40 pm

well, shit - i'd pay double to see RS at the summit. i just didn't think the capacity was 300.

but then again, my memory's always a little fuzzy by the time i leave the place.

for boston you should talk to the tampoffs. they seem to always be on the bill the rare times any good bands stop between montreal and new york. harper's ferry, great scott and o'brien's all look like they're booked 11/21, but you could probably get a gig at "church" which isn't a bad spot. saw davilla 666 there a few months ago and they sounded great. or you could try the middle east upstair's. oblivians played there i think the popular favorites tour. i believe the last time you played here with reigning sound was at charlie's kitchen, which was fun, even though your amp was a bit small, anyhow by this point you guys are definately too big for that spot. church would be your best bet.

Uh, Greg, Yes. Get out to Portland. By the way - did you spend more $$$ than me and Bruce at River Records that day?! We've been wondering. Ha!
Posted: Oct 12, 2009 8:30 am

I think I only dropped about $100. I got about 13 really cool singles though. He wouldn't sell me the Red West on Sonnet though. That is a killer Memphis record. I love Jerry but that is always aggravating. It makes me wanna walk back and put it back where I found it.
Posted: Oct 12, 2009 9:30 am

I hear ya! He really got us both - ha! - and damn if I haven't even had a chance to listen to any of it yet.....Aggravating is that "book". But the nice place about there is you "don't" have to put it back where you found it. Makes it more interesting the next time....when he will price it differently anyway.
Git out to Portland.

Tour starts this week! I posted in a thread in the Memphis forum but that doesn't get as much action as over here, plus this needed a bump.

I am flying up for the Memphis show - where is a convenient hotel that's not a shit hole?

should come to vancouver canada, would be a huge show.

Well, the Artisan is walking distance from the show and not too bad. That's where most of the Gonerfest folks stay. Not four stars but not a shit hole either. See you there. This is gonna be a fun tour!

Seen The Alarm Clocks have to play with RS in Cleveland. Bummer.

I think they're a Western Swing band....
Posted: Nov 13, 2009 11:28 am

I hear whispers they're playing "Take Me Back to Tulsa" 8 times consecutively.

Kevin's being modest, he'll be standing off to the side supplying the "ah-haaaaa" Bob Wills flourishes.
Posted: Nov 13, 2009 12:33 pm

Just bought 5 tix off the SubT website, to the tune of $14 in services fees. JEEZE! That opener better play "Tulsa" 10 times for that kinda money.

I know there's a post in one of the other forums (Memphis one maybe), but I thought I would put it here too - Reigning Sound is playing at the Noctural on Saturday, March 27 as part of Memphis's "Sivads of March" fest:

http://www.guerrillamonsterfilms.com/memphis/SIVADS/index.html

It says they are performing Love and Curses - don't know if it'll be in it's entirety or if they are playing other stuff or what. Maybe Greg can chime in to give us the skinny on this show.

Also Greg - is that going to be a one-off or part of a larger tour? Maybe another local show that weekend too?
Posted: Jan 7, 2010 2:00 pm

Praying to God it's part of a larger tour -- was out of the country last time they came through and still never managed to see them.

what's the drive from Portland to SF?

You can do it in a day if you start early. It's probably about 700 miles. Seattle is another 2 1/2 or 3 hours (depending on traffic).
If you are really thinking about either of of these Eric knows my details.

11 hours on a good day (a good day is one without tire chains)
Posted: Aug 30, 2010 10:49 am

The pass will be fine in Oct. (or usually is) dead of winter is a no go.

I'll hook up a Vancouver, BC show if you're down ... 30th!?

what's the drive from Portland to SF?

Yeah, 11 hrs. is about right.

Greg - funny, we had problems both times we were out there.

1. Speeding ticket in Eugene courtesy of cop in white Camaro w/"state police" keyed into side of vehicle.

2. This time going from Portland to SF, bus breaks down one hour outside of Portland on a Sunday.

would love to know that story!

greg, there any plans to bring the reigning sound/parting gifts over to europe and the uk?
Posted: Aug 31, 2010 12:51 am

i love how this thread and your facebook tour announcement both overtaken by pleas from portland - it's like reading a script to a rock'n'roll zombie movie...

that said, i'm gonna 8th, 12th or 15th the call and say pleeeeeeease try to make it up here - it would be so great to see the reigning sound again! it's been too long...

600 miles down I-5 Portland-SF.
at Mt. Shasta you get the energy healing power from the locus of synergy and sail on down to the Bay.
there's a cut-off to take ---- I-505 --- to take down to I-80 and then head for the Bay Bridge.
Posted: Aug 31, 2010 2:37 pm

The pass will be clear, it's under ten hours if you do a straight shot without traffic and it would be siiiiiiick. Never seen you guys in the 8 years or whatever I've been listening and it'a about damned time

any luck with a portland show...?

I'm racking my brain trying to remember who Reigning Sound opened for at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. Did anyone else here see the show?
Posted: Sep 22, 2010 7:20 pm

that's news to me - didn't they tour way back with the hives, though? the only time they played in portland while i've been here was with the detroit cobras at that place that used to be on hawthorne near 50th.
Posted: Sep 23, 2010 1:56 pm

The Hives. That's probably it. I think it was around the time Time Bomb High School came out. The Reigning Sound was on first and at the Crystal Ballroom that's really really early. There were very few patrons there by the time they came on and only a small handful of us were paying any attention to Greg and Co.

The Mount Tabor gig with the Cobras was much better. Anyway, definitely time for a headlining visit.

Dead air. Bummed cause it seems a little late in the game for them to be adding dates but Ima bug them one more time. An unnamed dude I know is willing to throw money at them to come up but I don't think money is enough of a carrot for them or it's just not an option for them or something. Missed the Tabor show. Not sure if I was even 21 yet

Seems a Portland show would be a guaranteed full house.....what's the hesitation RS?
Posted: Sep 24, 2010 9:20 pm

yeah, it was funny how when they announced their california date(s) on facebook, it just led to a long string of comments from PDX people begging them to come up.

well, i guess the message is out there - hopefully some day they'll make it here...

No shit. It would be out of control. All the townpeople would be in attendance. Punks, mods, beards, hippies, baristas, bespectacled professionals who ride bikes. Whole gang

You know you're into something good when townies come to your show.

Found this on the ol' Facebook:

Saturday, February 5
Jackpot Saloon
Lawrence, KS

It's Love Garden's 21st Anniversary and we're flying the Reigning Sound in for a special one-off show! A couple of our favorite locals are playing too.

9pm: Suzannah Johannes
10pm: TBA (workin' on it)
11pm: Mouthbreathers
Midnight: Reigning Sound

We're still working out the details on advance tickets. At this point there aren't any, but maybe by the middle of January.

If you are an out-of-towners that is freaking out about getting tickets, drop a line to lovegardensounds@gmail or write "Love Garden" via facebook and we'll work it out.
