Movie sucked!!! Can't believe I even agreed to go to another Taranturdo shlockarama after the boring Kill Bill but my friend was paying. More tedious dialogue, more anti suspense and drama on a sub After School Special level. More characters that you couldn't care less about. Do the hokey hokey slo mo death scene cause no ones ever seen that. Not enough WWII battles or funny. Brad Pitt should get an Oscar for his accent. Otherwise total downer. I reccomend watching the Columbine Massacre instead, just pretend all those dead kids are Nazis.

Anybody seen The Goods? Should I just rewarch Used Cars?

I wrote him off after Death-Proof. That had some amazingly tedious dialogue. I kinda wanna see Ingorious Basterds though.

I thought this movie was rad but was a little slow

i still think his first three are great. i quit paying attn/$$ after first Kill Bill. what a POS.

I can't make up my mind about Basterds.

Typical Tarantino flick, so you know what you're going to get (talk, talk, talk, shocking violence, talk, talk, talk, more violence, etc.)...but this wasn't as fun as the others.

I saw it yesterday...the ending seemed like war porn for a 13 year old. The rest was decent, but (as mentioned before) a bit tedious.

I had my chance to stab Tarantino in the eye with a fork when he sat next to me at that diner on Franklin back in '98..... sorry, people . I also could have run over Carrot Top in front of the Laugh Factory....missed my chance at immortality then ,too.

Loved it, except that bad southern accent. the basement bar scene was the best thing tarantino's ever done. liked the switching between languages. i like tedious dialogue apparently.
Posted: Aug 25, 2009 11:26 am

I liked it.

I found "Fistful of Nazi Death Wish" to be a very pleasant surprise.

yeah, i thought it ruled.

except that bad southern accent.

That accent drives me so crazy in just the trailers that I know I shouldn't see the movie because I know I'll be angry the whole time he's talking. And in a Tarantino film, I expect he'll be doing plenty of talking.

And I'm sure there's probably some obscure, historical justification for spelling it "basterds" in the title, but that really bugs me too.

Or not:

Quentin Tarantino isn't saying why he spelled the title of his Second World War adventure, "Inglourious Basterds," the way he did.

The writer-director is enjoying having a little fun with his audience, similar to the way he credited himself and Uma Thurman, with whom he co-wrote the "Kill Bill" movies, by their initials Q and U.

"I'm never going to explain that," Tarantino said during a news conference in May at the Cannes Film Festival, where "Inglourious Basterds" premiered. "When you do an artistic flourish like that, to describe it, to explain it, would just . . . invalidate the whole stroke in the first place."

He's a whole stroke.

cuz there was already a movie called"inglorious bastards"

So people Google the right movie.

---But yeah, it made me yawn a few times, then would wake me up with something brutal. I didn't think it was horrible like everyone says, it's likely his best 'looking' movie, nice shots of old-timey country sides an bullshit etc.

Just the giant steaming pile I've come to expect from Tarantino.
What a fucking hack.

So far the man has made one good film, and I'm quite convinced it was entirely accidental. (No, not Pulp Fiction...boring piece of shit).

Sucked

i like resevoir dogs, jackie brown and pulp fiction. i guess he wrote true romance and natural born killers, which were both great movies.

i used to think R dogs was no accident--the seamless film quotes from jap films, the edgy, pulpy dialogue, the odd take on violence.

after modern romance--a movie with a horrible ending btw--i still thought QT had talent

but his schlock work with Rodriguez
his unoriginality with kill bill
his hipster coolness with pulp
his weird tone in jackie brown
and this utter piece of shit film

make me think R dogs WAS accidental

he's a smarmy hack, a "bad" boy with expensive french underwear

and pitt's accent is a greater atrocity than any of the SS's actions in WW II

RIP Ted Kennedy

a great great legislator

It's odd that so many hyper sensitive film critics on the Goner continue to pay money to see movies made by a director they HATE so much...weird.

Pulp Fiction was "hipster" ? --- you're a tard.

You guys complaining about it all sound like a bunch of sorority girls who got shit on them at a GG Allin show.

I liked the movie... reminded me of Jackie Brown, and is a huge improvement over Death Proof (which I thought had it's moments). I think the thing with Tarantino is that he's a fan-boy, and his movies will always be self-conscious pastiches of/homages to other movies. If you find playing spot-the-influence entertaining (like myself) than his flicks are pretty enjoyable. If not, well...

Pretty sure Pitt's accent was bad on purpose... Tarantino has said over and over that this is his "Spaghetti western" so I think it's a safe bet to assume he's poking fun at the goofy accents of movies past.

i'm ok with this. but where it was artful (sorry, gay) in something like pulp fiction, it was rather annoying in kill bill. IMO.

(i've not seen basterds, so i should probably shut up)

his hipster coolness with pulp

Yes, but that came later. When it was originally released, it was just another movie by a director who had one excellent film and a couple of good screenplays. That hipster shit's got nothing to do with the actual film, just the later reaction to it.

Having said that, I haven't paid much attention since then although I want to check out Jackie Brown one of these days.

Forgot to add that during the screening the movie jumped and the top of the frame was at the bottom. Then the screen went white for a solid 30 seconds. I thought it was more of his "grindhouse" experience until a theater employee came in to offer rainchecks and say it would be 10 minutes or so until the movie restarted.

PS sorry bajewka my friend that paid for me to witness this celluloid abortion was a female, but I'd be as fine with letting another man take me to the movies as I would with letting you suck my dick
Posted: Aug 26, 2009 7:53 pm

ok, was it as bad as SAVING PRIVATE RYAN?
also, i think it would have been AWESOME if 'inglorious basterds' was a movie about a company of german soldiers instead of americans. brad pitt as a hauptmann with an in and out german accent? fuck yeah!

who's seen the original?
Fred Williamson & ... BO SVENSON!!!!

yet, you've watched every single one of his movies, and he got your money - so he wins.
i've also read many many books by mediocre writers; sort of like being well versed.

i love being called names by a guy who kisses ass all interview long , asking questions about bummer lyrics

go back to hooterville michigan idiot, you're messing with adults.

and pulp fiction was so readily accepted by hipster indie crowd because of some indie hipster pop cult refs and hipster indie derangement of narratives.

but then again i am talking to a complete fucking suck up so forget it...

pucker up. reigning sound is thinking of writing some new songs soon.

that's really queer, and funny as hell cuz this is my first appearance in this thread.

but back to the topic at hand:

Pretty sure Pitt's accent was bad on purpose... Tarantino has said over and over that this is his "Spaghetti western" so I think it's a safe bet to assume he's poking fun at the goofy accents of movies past.

same thing as the "tedious" dialogue. what movie is he paying homage to that didn't have tedious dilaogue? of course, their are plenty of movies loaded with wild dialogue, but when you dig deep into it, there's alot of shitty scripts, and i wouldn't put it past him to write that way on purpose. don't wanna argue about shit, but i generally dig his movies (loved deathproof and kill bill II)
