You know he faked it for the insurance money!

He's on the island with biggie and tupac.

New album will follow shortly....

I guess this means we won't be seeing lots of Farrah tributes on tv tonight.

Oh no, they just split it up: 1/2 MJ 1/2 Farrah...well, more like 3/4 MJ 1/4 Farrah. I am sure Ryan O'Neal is furious that he is losing camera time.

Ryan O'Neal
I haven't detected an ounce of sincerity in that guy.

He may have been a seriously fucked-up and crazy motherfucker, but he put out a few great records. If you judge his musical career by his crazy bullshit, then I hope you all also hate Chuck Berry.

Chuck Berry is a musician who actually wrote all of the songs he performed.

Oh man:

In Portland, Ore., bicyclists are invited to take part in a memorial ride. Organizers are hoping to erect a karaoke machine so attendees can sing Michael Jackson tunes and dance to the singer's hits. Participants are encouraged to wear glittery gloves and costumes reminiscent of the pop artist's signature costumes.

(From the NY Times)

I have the original SAY SAY SAY 45 with original sleeve, purchased as a young lad in 1983 with a Van Halen Diver Down LP at K-mart; the other side is ODE TO A KOALA BEAR. Mike and Paul were getting along at the time. Highest bidder? (Diver Down NOT included).

Chuck Berry is a musician who actually wrote all of the songs he performed.

Probably not without a significant contribution from Johnnie Johnson.

This from The Sun in Britain

"Last night it was suspected his collapse could have been caused by an overdose of painkillers.

An Emergency Room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol similar to morphine.

A Jacko source said: "Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing.

"His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped. "

I know this has to be opiate-related.

I'm sorry, but the guy definitely was the soundtrack to some party times of wild dancing...from age 3 to age 14. Yeah, there was a point when the sight of the "man" freaked me out, but it is true, the creep factor has diminished for right now when all I'm remembering is stuff like learning how to dance with boys for the first time to "Rock with You".

Thank god Prince came along just in time to be a hetero-freak with wilder dance songs after MJ started weirding out for the worse.

When I was 7 I was the only kid in my white bread suburb of Columbus, Ohio to have a really big boom box. I would hoist it onto my shoulder and my friend Jamie, my brother and I used to walk up and down our street blarring Thriller... Meanwhile somewhere in the middle of Texas there was a kid named Bill at a pizza eating contest wearing the red leather jacket and the glove...I don't think he won the contest but he sure looked cool...

RIP MJ- You brought us all together and we didn't even know it.

all true - you have NO IDEA how cool I looked... and I wasn't entered into the contest - just attending cuz my dad's pizza place was sponsoring it...

'Thriller' was the 1st LP I bought with my own money... despite the twisted, weirdo adult he became - that record & 'Off The Wall' will always mean alot to me.

R.I.P.

My first album was the J5's Greatest Hits with the old looking perforated portrait on the front cover. What stands out the most about it (other than "ABC" and "I Want You Back") was when I asked my mom if "black people's faces were really all cracked" like they were made to look like on the album cover. She said, yes, they were.
Posted: Jun 26, 2009 9:44 am

I still put ABC on all the time.
(That was a great story, LisaLisa.)

This is one of the things that's wrong with Portland, though some of the comments are gold, like "Are you going to wear shirts saying 'One Less Pedophile'?"
Posted: Jun 26, 2009 10:33 am

About 60 or so of us met at the Peace Garden. People showed up with one glove, sequins, leather jackets with multiple zippers. One guy even had a surgeon's mask on.

My first thought was, "Nuh-uh! Doctor Fink from the Revolution didn't play with MJ!" Then I remembered the MJ I tried to forget.

White people dancing in Dawson Park? Portland's really gone to shit.

fav three MJ songs:

I Want You Back
Never Can Say Goodbye
Billie Jean
Posted: Jun 26, 2009 11:41 am

I've heard Billie Jean and Man in the Mirror so far this morning.

z100 is still playing the hits! Looks like they're done taking calls over the air, thank god. I mean, listening to people cry about MJ on the phone was interesting for a few minutes, but all night?

No good record in 30 years? WTF? Man in the Mirror = Totally Rad!
Posted: Jun 26, 2009 11:46 am

I haven't heard thriller this many times in a 24 hour time period since the 80s. It's trippin' me out, man.
Posted: Jun 26, 2009 11:53 am

Man in the Mirror is catchier now than it was back then. And Billie Jean? That shit had held up like nobody's business. I Want You Back is easily my favorite J5 song, but as far as MJ goes nothing kills it more than the first 3 off "Off the Wall": Don't Stop til You Get Enough, Rock with You and then the killer, Working Day and Night.

Don't forget the ex-wife:

"I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible," Lisa Marie Presley said in a statement. "I am heartbroken for his children who I know were everything to him and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me."

Hahaha, the hits these days are funny. It's all tame screamo and techno-dancehall.

Wo0-hoo don't stop til you get enough is on!

He had his own Dr. Nick!!!!

Police investigating Michael Jackson's death are seeking to further question a Las Vegas cardiologist who was present at the performer's home when he went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing, according to police and other sources familiar with the probe.

Dr. Conrad Murray, licensed in Texas, Nevada and California, administering CPR to the performer Thursday when paramedics arrived at his rented Holmby Hills home. Murray accompanied Jackson, 50, to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where the singer was pronounced dead.

Heard on Kimmel last nite that since MJ's star on the walk of fame was closed off to the public because of the 'Bruno' premier, people were gathered around the other Michael Jackson (the radio guy)'s star, singing MJ songs...badly.

He was found in the children's ward having a stroke.

Posted: Jun 27, 2009 11:08 pm

This will likely be it for my MJ defense, but he wrote a ton of his own hit songs and well, sorry folks, the moonwalk is equally on par with with duckwalk. Not taking away from freak Berry, but freak Jackson can at least be excused for not writing the #1 songs when he was 11 years old. I suppose setting up cameras to watch chicks piss in a toilet and wipe is pretty cool, pardon me.

I suppose setting up cameras to watch chicks piss in a toilet and wipe is pretty cool, pardon me.

Setting up cameras to watch chicks piss is perverted but molesting children is a 1,000 times worse.

And James Brown was a hella better dancer than Michael Jackson.

Posted: Jun 28, 2009 1:12 am

the moonwalk may be on par with the duck walk, but nothing MJ did comes close to how berry pretty much invented rock n roll guitar. and yeah, jacking off 10 year olds is way worse than the toilet cam.

Posted: Jun 28, 2009 7:42 am

I don't imagine that Jackson wrote anything beyond lyrics, and probably not the lion's share of those either. He was a pop tool and his career is the foundation for the American Idol garbage pop radio we're forced to live with today.
Posted: Jun 28, 2009 12:56 pm

And James Brown was a hella better dancer than Michael Jackson.

I hate to break this to all of you, but at about 44 seconds into that video...James Brown does the Moonwalk...at least 20 years before MJ.
Posted: Jun 28, 2009 2:08 pm

OK, whatevs, I just think it is a moot point to argue. Who cares if you write your own songs or not or if you just write lyrics or what have you? That sort of thing seems like more of a distraction than an argument to me.

If you prefer Chuck Berry to MJ, OK, awesome! If James Brown was a better dancer than either, OK...and yeah, molesting children is 10x worse than piss cams, but I'm not gonna stop being ultra wary in either situation.

And agreed on James Brown being a better dancer than basically any other stage performer I've ever heard of.
