"Blues is my life," Taylor once said. "It's a true feeling that comes from the heart, not something that just comes out of my mouth. Blues is what I love, and blues is what I always do."

So sad. Her version of "Wang Dang Doodle" is so dope & further evidence as to how great Willie Dixon was.

There was an old picture of her that hung in Little Brother's that actually looked a lot like Ron House. Underneath it was the caption "Koko Taylor or Ron House."

RIP We've lost another titan.

True about "Wang Dang Doodle," heard it as a kid and thought it was the rippin-est vocal I'd ever heard. It's still up there.

i heard that willie dixon heard her sing at a bar and freaked out. said he never heard a woman sing like that before. he wrote "wang dang doodle" especially for her and it's what introduced her voice to the world. such an amazing voice. RIP Queen of the Blues!

I was thinking before that she, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush and Bobby Bland are the only real blues icons that are still alive, and now she is gone

Wow. Awesome.

I should change my username to "Razor Totin' Jim."

How 'bout that?

Can't use Razor Totin' Jim, presumably 'cause there already is someone using that name.

ah r.i.p.

i got to see her sit in on a blues jam at a bar in little rock once and she rocked the house (also saw her at a couple of large blues fests where she rocked it big time) - she was a great performer with some awesome pipes
