any one seen this? I like Mickey Rourke, he did a pretty good job in it.

I liked this movie a lot better when it was named SOUNDER.

I liked this better story when it was the life of Kerry Von Erich

I liked this movie a lot better when it was named Beyond The Mat.

I do want to see this.
I was a huge Hulkamaniac back in the mid-late 80s.
Posted: Jan 23, 2009 10:31 pm
Actually, it was pretty good! Rourke did a great job. I hope Necro Butcher makes it to the Academy Awards...
Posted: Jan 23, 2009 11:35 pm
I dug it! Any flick with Ernest "The Cat" Miller in it is okay in my book... Marissa Tomei was looking real fine too...
Naw, I dug it! They took a turd of a subject, and shined it up a bit. I never thought I'd see 'rasslin treated with some dignity at the cine-plex. We've come a long way since No Holds Barred, baby!

man...The sad history of the Von Erich's.

meanwhile, you have WWF stars living it up like

Mickey Rourke looks like crap. That is one celebrity who should get in touch with a good plastic surgeon ASAP.

I liked this movie a lot better when it was named SOUNDER.

I don't recall Marisa Tomei bing naked in Sounder, so I'm gonna go with this film...again an again.

go to bed Mickey.

Mickey Rourke vs. Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania!

I thought the movie was excellent! Necro Butcher deserves the Best Supporting Actor Oscar!
Posted: Jan 27, 2009 1:30 pm
I loved this. Good enough for Mick Foley is good enough for me.

Looks like he got in touch with a really terrible one. I think he must go to the surgeon that does that Cat lady.

I loved it. I don't really give a shit about the Oscars, but he should win one.

And yes, Marisa Tomei did look pretty darn hot.

Mick as a deli man is priceless. I got new respect for my deli clerks now..

gran torino was better.

I was only half paying attention - did he slice his thumb on purpose?

Gran Torino was really good, but totally 'nothing bad will ever happen again'.
Posted: Jan 28, 2009 10:44 am
He punched the slicer. It was unclear to me if he actually wanted to cut himself, or if he was just in a blind rage.
Posted: Jan 28, 2009 11:36 am
The other day I over heard a 12 year old kid explaining the plot of Gran Torino and he kept referring to "this old man" and I realized he was talking about Clint Eastwood. I thought that was hilarious.

did he slice his thumb on purpose?
Yes. The editing made it pretty clear to me.

gran torino was better

I think I'll go see this today. 4:15 at Studio if anyone wants to join me.

I think he sliced himself on purpose too.

how was it ? (Gran Torino)

saw the Wrestler last night. i thought it was pretty good. i was definitely partial to the wrestling stuff, less so the "straight" job, daughter, etc. (outside of the the first meat counter scene, which was petty funny); most of that was kinda same old pulling-your-heartstrings overcooked bullshit... though i did feel for when he crashed after his coke/fireman whore/ferret bender and missed meeting up with his daughter. i mean, 'cause we've all been there, right?
Posted: Jan 29, 2009 12:31 am
Not impressed.
Though Marisa Tomei all nude and strippery was nice.
Posted: Jan 29, 2009 12:55 am
ya ever seen Ishtar?

Saw it last night.
I liked it okay
Posted: Feb 21, 2009 11:50 pm
The wrestler must have really sucked because we saw Gran Torino (not GRAND Torino as I have seen it referred to elsewhere ...)
and it was BAAAAAAAAAD.

The only redeeming quality of the movie was Eastwood doing his own singing as the credits began to roll.
Posted: Feb 22, 2009 10:18 am
I don't know about Gran Torino, but The Wrestler was great.
Posted: Feb 23, 2009 12:27 am
have you seen the passion? you gotta see it. It's the best
Posted: Feb 23, 2009 10:55 am
Mickey got ROBBED!
Posted: Feb 23, 2009 10:59 am
Hollywood loves the gays. I saw neither movie.
Posted: Feb 23, 2009 11:11 am
I caught a snippet of the Baba Wawa interview with Mickey. He's got creepy fingernails.
Posted: Feb 24, 2009 12:12 am
I liked Gran Torino better. Way more fun throughout and the ending wasn't telegraphed. Were there any memorable quotes in the Wrestler? Maybe "what's wrong with wanting to have fun" but between the half-assed wrestling jargon and the shitty lifetime movie the only person I felt bad for was the Ayatollah, who (spoiler alert!) had to pin himself with a corpse.

I'll forgive the sequel if Randy the Ram has to defeat Zeus in order to save an orphanage.

the acting in Grand sucked for the most part(-clint), but god fucking damn I want to eat all that food they kept giving him. shit that shit looked good
Posted: Mar 1, 2009 12:44 pm
gran torino was way better.
racism > wrestling
Posted: Mar 1, 2009 2:01 pm
We saw this yesterday, so I'll weigh in. Mickey's great, but then, all he needs is a decent role and he'll bring the goods. There are some great bits (the deli counter) but there's also some embarrassingly lazy writing (the stripper as love interest).
