Goner Message Board / ???? / Boss RC-2 Loop Station
Posted: Sep 11, 2008 10:50 am
Anybody have one of these? It looks like something I could use, but I was wondering about the pre-set drum beat "guides". In reading all the product reviews, I didn't find any info about if you can set the tempo manually. I don't really want to have to tap it out with my foot while I'm playing or whatever so that the machine can automatically decide what tempo to use. I'd rather just figure out what sounds fast enough and then set it BEFORE I started playing. Is this possible? Am I even making sense?

Basically, here is what I want it for: I want to sample/record a guitar part or possibly a whole song, then play it back repeatedly as I figure out how to play drums along with it. The only thing I need the guide for is to make sure the timing doesn't change or get all stupid when I'm just playing guitar.

Almost bought one, actually, but then I started looking at something else (the Boss has a little too much more for what I need). Hang on, I'll find it.

Yeah, I saw that guy too, and while it is significantly cheaper, it doesn't offer anything in the way of a built-in metronome. Did you end up getting it?

built-in metronome.
Ah, I see.
Also, I don't know how many seconds you can loop.
That Boss, I think you can store, like, six different loops or one reeeeeealy long one.

Did you end up getting it?
Not yet, but planning on it soon.

Don't you need to get the actual 2880 if you buy the controller?

This is the best loop station I've ever used.

Please draw me a picture of Sarah Palin's high-heeled shoe stepping on said pedal, playing a B.C. Rich Warlock while she imagines kissing Peter Criss in make-up.

There's a guy on there who has the 2880 controller who plays Ambient Electronica Doom Metal with it. Now that's what I call a genre.

No, my debit card was fucked this weekend. They sent me a new one without telling me. Plan on going tomorrow afternoon.

I'd like one guitar string and your cheapest pick.

Hey, Crowbar. No glory this week, either. My truck let me know (in not so subtle fashion) that my alignment comes before pedals. And I have to have the truck for Gonerfest this week.
