Reminds me of when I went to see Hated. We couldn't find my car afterward.

that might have been a good thing, I sure hated it at the time, tho.

Are there actually any good biopics? Most of the ones I've ever seen are terrible.

The last I heard about that whole thing (and this is a few years ago now) is that the guy playing Darby was actually out playing gigs with the remaining Germs; don't know if that's good or bad, but I guess it's... um, interesting. I read Lexicon Devil and saw the man himself in Decline in a very posh theatre, so that's good enouugh for me...

I hated The Germs at first, but eventually I grew to love them.

the one gig scene was OK, kinda sorta got a handle on it.

but i've a feeling that Germs shows were never attended that well. those scenes seemed more out of the early 80's.

it's pathetic because there really was never any context to the film. it was sort of a fashion spread or something. and then the fake interviews. it was just a weird concept. I can't blame the band for letting it go ahead, and I'm sure the actors worked hard on their portrayals, but everything was so superficial it was sad.

then the whole "Darby was a homo" angle not really necessary or didn't add anything to the character -- it was never developed.

yes it does; if the theatre where I saw it wasn't about four blocks away, I would've been really pissed off about seeing it too!!

if I remember right, Darby killed himself partially because he couldn't deal with being gay; that, and idolizing Sid Vicious of course

I can definetly see why somebody would dislike the Germs. I liked them when I started listening to punk music, but lost interest quickly. I don't know very much about them and haven't listened to most of their songs but from what I've heard they were pretty average at what they did. I don't dislike them right now, but I hardly ever listen to them. From my limited perspective I think Darby Crash was not so much tragic as he was pathetic.

haven't seen the film; don't plan on it.

would you see a movie about a kid you knew made by a guy who didn't know him?
