I'm a huge Lightfoot fan, myself. One of my old favorite drinking holes had the Edmund Fitzgerald 45 on the jukebox. That song never gets old.

No votes for Douglas Coupland?

Upon further thought, he's not my favorite either, although his Souvenir of Canada books are delightfully informative.

My vote would have to go to the cast of the Kids in the Hall. Especially Bruce McCulloch. Also SCTV, of course. Many a 70's afternoon was frittered away watching Mayor Tommy Shanks, Doug & Bob, and Jackie Rogers Jr., among others.

Also, many of my teammates in the 70's were big Rush fans, but I never was, for whatever reason. I always preferred hard rockers like KISS, Grand Funk, Thin Lizzy, The Ramones, and Edgar Winter.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I think Douglas Coupland is my least favorite Canadian.
In fact: I could kill him with a fountain pen.

Reggie was big on the movie tunes.

You know, stuff like Curtis and "Superfly," Roy Ayers and "Coffy." James Brown and "Black Ceasar." That kinda stuff.

He also dug Little Stevie Wonder and Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank and Dino and the rest.

Plus, the Puerto Rican guys. Willie Colon, Eddie Palmieri, Joe Bataan, and the rest. What did we know of them? "Bomba" vs. "Plena?" "Jibaro" and "Taino?" Reggie knew.

Good guy, that Reggie. Unfairly maligned. He wasn't the first...

Neil Young is God

Brad?

Deuteronomy 6:14 "You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you,

Exodus 20:3 "Never have any other god."

NEIL YOUNG IS HUMAN
you may think its a joke, but you are calling down the wrath of the Lord upon your children, and your childrens children, etc.

“. . .for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me. . .”

Exodus 20:5

Nice call on Mike Levine.

Phuck PJ Phil; it's all about PJ Katie.

I knew a guy who lost his girlfriend because she walked in on him one morning, jerking off to PJ Katie's Farm.

The dude in Trailer Park Boys who sez "That's a lotta fucking cat food!" is undoubtedly my favourite Canuck!

Equally great Canuck r'n'r award:

Dave Bingham (Ugly Ducklings)
Frankie Venom (Teenage Head)
William Hay (Painted Ship)

Special 'if only he'd pegged it years ago like Belushi' award: Dan Ayckroyd.

Fave Canuck comic: Leonard Cohen.

Special 'sorry you're a sociopath but we've got to live with it' award: my first wife and her fat, crazy ass.

Stompin' Tom Connors
I've believed this for years, and stand firm.

Eric - Edgar Breau of Simply Saucer might actually have more in common with Stompin' Tom and the whole "Canadian Thing" than most would suspect. There's at least an essay there, if not a short film (Nazi Dog? nice one. Not a popular vote, but inciteful)

Shadowy Men From A Shadowy Planet - Brian Connelly, asides from being one of the hottest guitar slingers that's not a jazzbo you're ever likely to see or hear, is one of the sweetest people you'll meet. Our unelected Goodwill Ambassador. Also played plenty with Neko Case (see above)

Alisa - you're sweet - thank-you
