Goner Message Board / ???? / Thoughts on the new Jay 7"?
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 3:05 pm

Good enough for me. Just wondering what everyone else thought.
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 4:37 pm

I think it's the weakest of all the solo stuff he's put out. Still pretty good though.
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 4:41 pm

See/saw is kinda weak, but I like the b-side.

Really? First listen I liked See/Saw better than the B-side. A little catchier I thought.
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 10:18 pm

I like it real good, but I liked both songs even better when I saw 'em played live.
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 10:21 pm

i liked it, but it didn't like that the mongoloids at matador sent mine in a puffy envelope with no cardboard backer. it ain't a cd dipshits. thanks for the creased over.
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 10:26 pm

i'll like it when jay gives me 11 dollars.

Same here.

From Terminal Boredom:
Hey,
sorry about that, there were lots of different folks packing the orders and it was hard to police the packing of all of them. Why don't you e-mail me at dave at matadordirect dot com and I'll see what I can do about getting you a new sleeve or something.

Dave

I e-mailed him...we'll see what happens.

only listened to it once since I got it -- i like b-side better after first listen too
Posted: Apr 7, 2008 11:51 pm

I like it.

I don't know what it is exactly.. but a lot of the newer stuff reminds me of either showtunes or children's music.. but fucked up. It's not a bad thing.
Posted: Apr 8, 2008 1:06 am

i'm gonna wait for the lp that collects all the singles - don't wanna order 5 consecutive times in the USA - i'm also getting pretty bored with all this limited shit - MUSIC FOR THE MASSES GODDAMNIT!!!
Posted: Apr 8, 2008 5:02 am

I got it for free, didn't listen to it, but sent it back. Fuckin thing had a hole in the middle.
Posted: Apr 8, 2008 9:38 am

Listened to it once and thought it was pretty bland compared to any other previous releases. He can write great catchy songs, so do it already!
Posted: Apr 8, 2008 9:50 am

I just got it in the mail, haven't played it yet.
---If you think its bland, wait for the next one, isn't he doing like 10 of these bitches!!!

Perhaps you guys will enjoy it more if instead of "See Saw," you just imagine he's saying
HEE-HAW!!!

what Im saying is fuck all ya'll
Posted: Apr 9, 2008 3:09 am

Haven't heard it. I'm not exactly on Matador's speed dial, so I'm probably not going to get one either.
Posted: Apr 9, 2008 3:25 am

matador records says "us customers only" - silly to see how they jump on the ultra-limited editions bandwagon - i think i'm gonna buy me a hot-dog instead!
Posted: Apr 9, 2008 3:31 am

us customers only cause the release date for euro/uk land is may 19th..The limited shit was my idea and I'm not jumping on anyones fucking bandwagon Mr Luke.

what Im saying is fuck all ya'll

The limited shit was my idea

He's so gay
He's so gay
He's very very gay
He's so gay
He's so gay
And he likes to be that way
With his keys all on the right
He's into rubber every night
He's so gay
He's so gay
He's ALMOST EVERYONE TODAY

He's okay
He's okay
He's got a role he wants to play
He's okay
He's okay
He's just a cowboy for a day

Of course, his evening's not complete
Without some meat in the seat;
Let's skate away
Down Mata Dorio today

Maybe he wants a little spanking
Maybe he'll eat a little chain
Maybe his lover should be thanking him
For the way he makes it sprinkle
Into drops of GOLDEN RAIN

He's so gay
He's so gay
He rules the city in a way
You could say
You could say
It's sorta different today
All the taffeta and chintz
And every Leather Boy's a PRINCE
Hey hey hey!
Please don't look the other way

You could be just like him
TOMORROW!
Maybe you'll get a chance
To borrow
(Borrow)
His bouquet
And maybe later...MAYBE LATER
We'll ALL BE
GAY-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y!

DO YOU REALLY WANNA HURT ME?

Posted: Apr 9, 2008 5:01 am

Posted: Apr 9, 2008 8:03 am

Take it easy reatard, it's still pretty good. Your other solo stuff is just better.

Ding Le Dangle seems as though you have a crush huh..Hater
Posted: Apr 9, 2008 1:51 pm

We'll talk about this after you're back from having your manicure, mmkay?
Posted: Apr 9, 2008 3:04 pm | Edited by: Rich Balls

I liked both the tracks, I did like the B-side more .... butI never really cared what side of the record a song is on.
-One of these singles should be a Wipers cover.
Posted: Apr 9, 2008 4:49 pm

Got that Blood Visions demos 7" today. It's pretty sweet.

My friend, whose taste rarely deviates from Daft Punk-ish electro and mainstream hip hop startled me yesterday with an IM: "Have you heard the new Jay Reatard 7"??? It's so good. Has he put out any good albums?"

I mean, this guy regularly spends buckets of cash on fancy label sneakers from Japan and "vintage" 1990s neon windebreakers. So I can only assume that Jay Reatard is hip and cool in the mainstream indie kid scene all of the sudden. Some secret cool-kid message board must be singing his praises. (Can a Daft / Reatard collabo be far off?)

You have been warned!

indie kids dig him now cause pitchfork told them to
Posted: Apr 16, 2008 1:57 pm

I like it. makes me think of 70s bowie, eno, etc which I was surprised by.
Posted: Apr 16, 2008 2:12 pm

I ordered this right when it went on sale and still haven't gotten this shit. This thread was started over a week ago! I thought I saw some indie kids hanging around my mailbox...

I had no idea he was reviewed in Pitchfork. Okay then, maybe he'll be collabo-ing with Sufjan Stevens, not Daft Punk. My bad.

mine came in a manilla evelope with a single sheet of newspaper wrapped around it as packaging. there was a 7" mailer from rob's house that was rubber banded to the envelope, fucking thing is warped now.
