He was 41. Even though he was blind, he was somehow a terrible "bluesman"- possibly worse than even Stevie Ray Vaughan. But he was unintentionally hilarious in "Roadhouse," so R.I.P.

Q: Why didn't Jeff Healey go sky diving?
A: It scared his dog.

Crazy lyrics from a blind guy - guess they're supposed to be ironic or somethin:

Girl, you're looking fine tonight,
and every guy has got you in his sights
What you're doing with a clown like me,
is surely one of life's little mysteries

So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say,
to turn your angel eyes my way?

Well, I'm the guy who never learned to dance,
never even got one second glance
Across a crowded room was close enough,
I could look but I could never touch

So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say,
to turn your angel eyes my way?

Don't anyone wake me,
if it's just a dream
'Cause she's the best thing,
that's ever happened to me

All you fellows, you can look all you like,
but this girl, you see, she's leavin' here with me tonight

There's just one more thing that I have to know,
if this is love why does it scare me so?
It must be something only you can see,
'cause girl I feel it when you look at me

So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say,
to turn your angel eyes my way?

Girl, you're looking fine tonight,
'Specially since they were written by John Hiatt

I worked with kids who had retinoblastoma when I lived in Oregon; it is very sad that they can remove eyes, zap tumors and then you never know when more cancer can return.

RIP Healey!

Aha.
Still, a weird song choice for him. Especially since, lyrics aside, the song sux.
He might as well have covered "I Can See Clearly Now."

He might as well have covered "I Can See Clearly Now."
Or "I Can See for Miles" or "Doctor, My Eyes"

I know all you hardcore blues aficionados hate whitey's rockin take on the most boring, repetitive music in the world but I'm here to give major props to a blind kid who learned how to play a guitar laid across his fucking lap in a style all his own.

"The name...is DALTON."

Feh! White or black, this guy was terrible. And don't go bringing his blindness into the equation. If you look up a list of great old time blues guys, half of the list is guys with the first name "Blind". Blindness is practically an advantage when it comes to playing great blues. Unfortunately for Healey, not only was he white, he was also Canadian, so he was doomed from the start.

And by accounts of a few people I've know who've booked him over the years, played with him, etc, the guy was a prick.
Posted: Mar 4, 2008 2:12 am

a prick? Seems likely.

Max loves Roadhouse, so he put up a steel cage at Beerland. Once a month, the chicken wire drops and everyone's invited to throw shit. Get creative! SXSWers, look up!

Jeff Healey: Rest in whatever.

You or bradx.
You're godamned right.
Y'all both need to shut the fuck up and rock out.
People who tittle over details seldom get the point.
The Blank Dogs box set is coming out.
Are you buying it for you or for e-bay.
Seriously.

i'm so confused

So not only was he untalented and physically retarded, he was a prick? Someone shoulda shoved him in a wheelchair and pushed him down stadium stairs like OJ in Naked Gun. I did like him in Roadhouse, but I liked everyone I usually hate in that movie.
