In the conspiracy view of the assassinations of the 60s, JFK was killed because he was planning on challenging the military-industrial-intelligence complex. (The Oliver Stone version is that he was going to stop the Vietnam war before it began. Another strain of conspiratorial thought says that after the Cuban Missile Crisis he, like Krushchev, thought that it was time to rethink the whole nuclear weapons thing. Interestingly, Kruschev was ousted in a bloodless coup
about 11 months after Kennedy was assassinated and spent the rest of his life under virtual house arrest in Moscow. Yet another "Why'd they do it?" theory centers on John Foster Dulles getting revenge for the humiliation of the CIA at the Bay of Pigs and Kennedy's refusal to go to war to liberate Cuba.*) MLK was killed because he was shifting his focus from race to class. Notice that he was killed while participating in a strike rather than a civil rights march. (On the X-Files
, the Smoking Man says he killed MLK because "He was starting to talk like a Marxist.") RFK was offed as soon as it looked like he was going to win the Democratic nomination (the very night he won the California primary, in fact). He was going to end the Vietnam war, and he had privately told people he thought there was a conspiracy to kill his brother, and he was going to use the power of the presidency to get to the bottom of it.
Obama has very publicly stating that he wants to withdraw from Iraq, which has been a huge money-maker for the military-industrial complex. The War on Terror has become a great excuse to move the US towards a totalitarian police state, which is assumed to be the goal of THEM in conspiratorial thinking. So if you're conspiratorially minded in the classic American paranoid sense, it looks like They would want to assassinate Obama and blame it on a lone racist nutjob. Hillary voted for the war and is probably onboard with the whole American Empire program. If Obama isn't (and that remains to be seen, IMHO), my guess would be the period of maximum danger would be after it looks like he's got the nomination sewn up but before the conventionâ€"some time in the late-March to August timeframe. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on April 20, Hitler's birthday (assuming it would be pinned on a neo-nazi) and the date of the Columbine massacre. Not coincidentally, the Oklahoma City bombing was April 19.
*The other commonly cited reason for JFK's assassination that doesn't involve aliens is that he and Bobby pissed off the Giancano mob family. As a friend of mine said when JFK Jr. died under dodgy circumstances, "How long can that wop hold a grudge?"
