Grand Canyon

I tried to see this once.

Some friends and I were sitting in an IHOP, it was late but none of us wanted to go home. On a whim we decided to drive to the Grand Canyon. We got there at about nine a.m., and we were all excited to gaze out across the canyon.

However, a forest fire had broken out in the bottom of the canyon the day previously, and the whole thing was full of smoke. You could make out some of the features of the canyon, but it was nowhere near as magical as what we envisioned. We all felt ripped off. I still don't feel like I've really "seen" the Grand Canyon.

yeah, no shit! Antarctica??

only things on that list I'd really like to see are Venice and the Great Barrier Reef. I figure someday I'll probably get dragged to see the Louvre and the Grand Canyon.

but all that other shit is for the discovery channel.

Algoma is rock 'n roll Valhalla. TV Ghost and Psychedelic Horseshit have both played there on seperate occasions and one member of each band was heard talking about how they wanted to move there. I want to move there and I've heard a member of the Mystery Girls talk about moving there as well.

Luckily a bit of Memphis comes here some now and then.

algoma's the new normal, IL, rock n roll central for the 90s!

i seen some meteor crater in arizona (?) from the air, that was cool.

and i'd recommend THE MYSTERY SPOT in santa cruz, ca.

i wanna see the northern lights, too.

I like Algoma but there's no way in hell I'd move there! Only been in Memphis a couple days, love the food and the general atmosphere. Wanna go to the two places in the continental US I haven't been to, Maine & WA/OR. I tend to like "northern" areas the best, so I'll bet they both rule. Also want to go to Australia/New Zealand.

everyone HAS got to see the House on the Rock. In fact, Jack, when you and your family go to Cheese Days, seriously consider taking time to visit here. It's in the same region of WI as Monroe. It's kid friendly, too, and just insanely awesome.

no algoma?

that totally rules.

What about Slab City, WI? It's only a few farmhouses, one of which has a brewery in it's silo, and a bar called The Morgue, it's where you goto die.

French Lick, Indiana

i grew up pretty close to there. there is this new casino there now that is inside of what used to be the largest freestanding dome in the world before the astrodome was built (and subsequently many others after). it stood abandoned up until they passed a gambling referendum in the town. when it stood empty, it was SUPER fucking awesome to break into and i spent many a night inside of that place, wandering around. they have a rookwood pottery fireplace in it and tiled floors. it was such a gorgeous place. the restoration work on it actually was very well done too. it's a hotel/casino now, which is actually what it was when it was first built. they have all kindsa spas and shit there too since there are sulphur water springs all around the area.

real neat little town.

Cambodia is very cheap, the plane ticket is the only thing that's expensive. I heard they raised the prices, but I know someone who paid 20$ to shoot a RPG at a cow there. Definately a place I'd love to visit before I pass.

It's a bit more these days...didn't do it myself, but moto drivers are paid commission by the ranges for every person they can bring in, so they're constantly trying to sell you on it. If the rifle ranges are as good as their weed, I'm glad I passed.

Galapagos Islands in '08. Fingers crossed.

Dealy Plaza in Dallas, Texas. Ya know Elm Street the place where JFK got his brains splattered all over Jackie Kennedy. The grassy knoll where the second gunman probably was, and the 6th floor of the Texas schoolbook depository building where allegedly Oswald was.

Oh yeah the Dallas Police department to stand on the same spot where Jack Ruby shot Oswald.

Anybody know is Ruby's nightclub is still around? If it isnt whats there now?

it was called the carousel club. i didn't know if it was still open or not (i was guessing probably no and had heard that it was probably destroyed since then.) upon looking it up, i found it was indeed demolished and has since been replaced by the southwestern bell building at two bell plaza, which sits off commerce. the original address to the carousel club was 1312 1/2 commerce street.

The last place that Rumplefagskin will see before he dies is his mother's basement where he's been hiding out with his Beatles collection since the mid-60's. The only contact he has with the outside world is the occasional pity visit from Goliedown and The Goner Board.
