Me, me, me ME! I had a great night getting smashed with people from work. Had my boss playin' Van Halen and everything. Then I got home and got and received a gift certificate from lush.com and a nice email from my cousin I just visited.

Yeah, right here.

Downed a few polite wines at the frooty dinner party; knocked back several fizzy lagers at the ultra-gay club; couldn't wait to get home to some heterosexual ales.

What? My recyclers always do some ungodly drive-by at 6:00, checking to see whose put out their bins, but don't pickup 'til 10. Trash, well, I dunno. Do you think that '45 Revolutions' is worth it?

Good. I've been working on another but the been feeling a bit at a loss lately. My season's ended and I don't know what to do with myself, other than talk to people I know and do my xmas shopping. I'm sort of briefly in this UofO vid.

Those aren't real liberty spikes.
But I saw a Stumptown van. Their coffee rules.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:25 am

Stumptown, well, hipster dufi material. I'm sure you roast better. This was actually my last race. Snowed the day before and hovered around 34 all day. Sucked. First time that I actually got cooler by the last lap instead of warmer. Shitty. SHITTTY. Tell me, would I be SHITTY to order that 45 Revolutions book? I got a sweet kicker check from the state (state over-taxes and then gives back, more than a year later)?
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:26 am

troll where are you in that vid?
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:27 am

Sorry. Kept going back to the D&D thing. She's got to be at least 7th lvl.

But an 8th lvl hottie.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:33 am

Stumptown, well, hipster dufi material.

I dunno, man. Maybe it's because that was the first bag of fresh roast I had in a while, but Joe sent me some awhile back, and man, I had NO complaints.

I did get a bag of green beans for my birthday though, and I've been stinkin up the house pretty goo, my son tells me.

Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:37 am

How the fuck do skinnier tires work in THAT shit?
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:40 am

Chicks like that fuckin rule.
She would be rad in some chainmail, too.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:40 am

It don't. I suppose you could say the trade off is that the skinny tires cut down in the mud vs. wider tires floating. I dunno. Just run.

Stumptown is good. Attitude from said establishment is poor. You have to know the secret handshank.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:42 am

HAHAHAHA!

I remember as a barrista, getting 'tude with the customer a few times.

"What kind of coffee do you have today?"
"What the sign say?"
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:44 am

Coffee people can be the worst. Worse than wine people, I think.

I was one. I'm sorry.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:46 am

These guys won't even converse if all you order is coffee. Their shit is even just set outside the counter in vacuum pots, not inside. God forbid if they have to brew another batch instead of pressing you some $3+ beverage. That's the only thing Starbucks (or local joint) has got on them - regular, plain coffee. Fuckers have too many shoes to buy or ironic mustaches to grow.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:48 am

The average shirt or office matron will not have ever tried "cupping" shit. They wouldn't know a good brew if it shat in two cups.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:49 am

Don't get me started about donuts and trans-fat shit. Voodoo donuts (you PDX fags) suck now.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:49 am

They should've never changed their oil to placate the masses. They're fucking donuts, for chrissakes.

Oh, fuck that.
Their shit is even just set outside the counter in vacuum pots, not inside.

I can make the most fru-fru drinks, even some latte "art". But even when I was a barista, I always ALWAYS considered the "regular joe" of the day the epitome if what good coffee was.

I took more care later in roasting the regular joe stuff than the espresso-fancy-pants roasts. I mean, that's a no-brainer. Roast until almost burned.

True, true.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:54 am

See, I don't get it. You would think that the average barista was above the shop earning mentality of the swank drinks. Don't get it. Will, tomorrow, as my local Starpukes will ultimately know my mug and pour my drink prior to arriving at counter.

My fancy pours are at places where I drink for free, thankfully.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:56 am

Also, I brought some coffee into work the other day. But I haven't brewed it there yet. I'll have to put some note or something on it to say "hey, dudes, this is probably stronger than you're used to" or something.
Although, I got a 4-cup maker I could bring in and put in the cube, I suppose...
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:59 am

My fancy pours are at places where I drink for free, thankfully.

Yeah, me, too. At my house. I haven't ordered a milk-infused drink since I quit the coffee place. And that was almost ten years ago. I've ordered an espresso, maybe twice at restaurants.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 7:59 am

I wish you worked in my office. I don't think they've ever cleaned the pots. I'm sure I should be taking notes. There's bound to be some bio-hazard in their future. Who cares, though.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 8:04 am

See, I don't get it. You would think that the average barista was above the shop earning mentality of the swank drinks.

THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING! When I go to any shop, I always get the regular coffee. That tells more about experience than any other shop.

Espresso is harder, yes; you have to pull it off right. But I could give two fucks if you can make my foam look like a leaf. And 80 percent of all that ordered latte crap is flavored sugar shots and cocoa (at least down here. You're shot pulled correctly doesn't matter that much.

12, btw.

Posted: Dec 19, 2007 8:09 am

Stop talking. I gotta go to bed, too, but I gotta take out this trash stuff. Good to hear from you again. But, yeah. I got to be in early, too. Luckily, it's "holliday policy" and I can throw some jeans on and no tie.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 8:10 am

My dad used to feed the dinner scraps to his feral cats but the skunks would often come up to steal from the plate. I once sprayed water from a spray gun through the screen door on a skunk I thought was an extra frisky feral that was going to climb the screen. Turned on the outside light and real slowly, closed the door on the macking skunk.
Posted: Dec 19, 2007 8:10 am

No skunks in the city very often, but racoons abound.

P.S., if we're talking barista shit, what the fuck is up with people that order their "laTAYs" in terms of degrees?!?!? Every time that happened to me, I looked them in the eye while I steamed their stupid fat-free milk (SLOWLY) and then steamed it too hot and put it in the fridge for a minute so it could cool to their standards. LAME.

Ha! I did not even have ONE beer last night! Not one! That hasn't happened in a veeeeerrrryyyy long time.

Speaking of baristas, I worked for Starbucks before they became the huge monster they are now (in 92-94) and if you didn't make someones coffee the exact temp, and how they wanted it, you had to make it again and again until right. I made one ladies drink about six times one day cause she kept saying it was too hot, and I kept making it hotter cause I was a "fuck everybody" type of 18 year old. I can't believe I made it through that without throwing her 168 degree latte in her motherfucking face!!!

Showing up at work 2.75 hours late Wednesday and kinda still drunk and your superior (not quite the bossman) is pissed off and wants you to be sent home for the day but then Friday he asks if you want to chip in to buy a bottle of good scotch to toast the upcoming Christmas holiday.

You're a lil' flustered because you don't wanna let on that you're a drunkard piece of shit. Then you're all "who am I kidding?" and you put in and get buzzed at work courtesy of the guy who thinks you're a pussy lightweight!

bonus: then you go see the Golden Boys and show up at work Saturday like an hour after you said you would kinda still drunk and kick ass! And then it's all paid vacation until the 2nd! My job rules! Yeah!

Indeed! Jimmy Smith does a perfect Baron Saturday! It's funny. There's more drum solo in it than I remembered, though.

Jimmy Smith

I mean Jimmy McGriff. It's a ltd. ed. Jimmy McGriff that sounds a lot like the Pretty Things.

Jimmy McGriff - "Let's Stay Together" on Groove Merchant

I bet if you order it, it'll come with a Pretty Things "S.F. Sorrow" label.

I'm sorry to say, I'm not. But I will be. My beer was displaced in the fridge due to the pork crown roast, but that suckers coming out now. I've got a bourbon sauce for it so I's can start on that. I'll just return when I am inebriated sufficiently to discuss coefficients and the like. That's my sorrow.

Good luck, Troll. Not that I care.

Thanks to SSR for turning me on to this LP.

Whole house now reeks like my father. Reducing bourbon sure smells funky and I'm not drunk yet. Bah Humbug.
