Goner Message Board / ???? / Suggestions For A Ladies' Watch
Posted: Dec 3, 2007 5:59 pm

...for wife for Christmas.

M'lady should prefer "neato" and "nifty" and "cool" to "elegant / fashionable."

I can spend about $200.

Thanks

Derek

If I remember correctly your last Goner Board comment was Americans suck. Now you have the nerve to crawl back and ask for help with a ladies watch? I don't think so. America rules!

A piece of shit with a leather band.

I am an American.

And, anyway, that's not what I said.

I am an American.

How can we be sure? Who won the 1969 World Series?

If you can afford to spend a little bit over $200 get her a Swiss Army watch. They rule.

Swiss Army watch.
not very "cool," classic but meh. Although, is she is like me she might like this one.

nifty but not always wearable

elegant

I wasn't alive then. I remember seeing bearded relief pitcher Bruce Sutter win it for the Cardinals against the Royals sometime in the '80s, though. Go Cardinals!

And, anyway, Americans are the best to ask because their consummerist culture supports the whole rest of the world.

(No joke, if Americans stopped buying cars, DVD players, watches, polyvinyl chloride, the entire world economy would collapse.)

It's not like I could ask around on the Bengladesh music board: "Hey, any a' youse ever seen somethin' nice comin' across that sweatshop conveyor belt?"

You should just do that thing where you wrap your penis around your wrist.

I think you're thinking of a pinkie ring...

Anyway, I've decided to get her the same thing I got her last year: a black eye.

Ugh...I'll never let my husband pick out a watch for me again...won't she tell you what she wants? Seriously, man, save yourself some angst...or having to wonder why, after a few weeks, she never wears your $200 gift anymore.

Get a Citizens. They're sturdy, tough and good looking.

Ha! Classic move. That along with..."How did I get gum on my shorts?"

And let's not forget the ever-popular "hole-in-the-bottom-of-the-popcorn-bucket-at-the-movies."

"hole-in-the-bottom-of-the-popcorn-bucket-at-the-movies."

What every girl wants for Christmas!

Yeah, exactly what everyone's wife wants, a "sturdy" present.

Gum on the shorts is unbeatable, hole in the popcorn bucket is too much work.

Would post link to dick in a box but NBC makes youtube take it down -weak.

Shit, I got my wife a Citizens, it's been through the washer and didn't even hiccup. It's some quality stuff. She got me one a few years before I got hers and I don't think I'll ever need another watch, too.

better in black

I love this one, s sarah.

I have an Armani that is similar, but bigger and with an oiled tawny leather band. At first I was terrified of how big it looked on my wrist, but I love it now.

Kinda like this:

Can't lose with Swatch!

by the way, its called a "white mans handcuff" not a "watch"

I recently bought this watch cause I needed one with a second hand. First watch I ever owned. It is boring looking, but cheap.

But seriously, who needs a watch in 2007, what with cell phones and all? Just buy her a pretty bracelet or something.

I saw a watch with a calculator on it! Two presents in one!

Thanks for the suggestions!

You're right, I am utterly without a clue.

She did have a couple of "Fossil" brand watches that were spiffy but it seems like none of 'em lasted too long (hence the need to get her one for Christmas).

I spent all last night thumbing through pages and pages of watches... Many ladies' watches that are not prohibitively expensive look like something the Bratz or some ghetto hussy would wear.

who needs a watch in 2007

if the advertisements are correct: astronauts, navy s.e.a.l.s. and race car drivers.

Ladies, how do you feel about this watch (keeping in mind she's kind of a nerd) -- be honest, it may spare me a miserable Christmas:

Casio Futurist
Posted: Dec 4, 2007 6:14 pm

Just don't get her the kind whats-his-face inherited in "Pulp Fiction"

Fossil's tend to look kinda retro...as opposed to the Casio Futurist, which is the opposite. Such a matter of taste...ask her friends?
