You should come out and meet up with Turbojugend Alamo City on Tuesday, July 10th at The Mix on N. St. Mary's strip @ 10pm. We're planning a bunch of stuff for the summer you are more than welcome to get in on. We've got our annual summer lake party (when the rain dies down), a day at a shooting range, bowling, and plans for the Turbonegro fall tour.
By the way, Turbo's scheduled to play Emo's on Oct. 2nd!
I know that the Sons of Hercules have a few shows lined up to play Rock Bottom and Limelight. Pick up "The Current". It's our weekly for art, music, and shit.
Rock Bottom's myspace is: http://www.myspace.com/rockbottomtattoo
bar. They mostly book metal, psychobilly, and punk. But, they also book garage shows when it comes along.
The Limelight doesn't book metal or very loud rocker type bands but caters to the lighter side of indie rocker and electro type of music. They do make exceptions for shows that draw and the Sons are definately a draw in San Antonio:
The Mix is a hangout bar, that started booking bands after alot of bands didn't have a place to go because of the Tacoland demise. A few Goner fans work there and play great music in between the bands. You might not dig alot of the bands there, but it's still a place for us to meet and because of the staff and location, we end up there alot.
Sam's Burger Joint serve huge and bad ass burgers. Bands that play there are mostly; psychobilly, swing, blues, and ska. But check listings because they always throw in a bit of other stuff as well.
An ol' school local legendary burger joint and venue is Casbeers. They serve up a great variety of country, Texana, 3rd Coast, blues, and soul. It's definately worth checking out.
Mexicajun also mentioned The Mattress Factory. It is a room with a stage at a warehouse setting. No alchohol is served, so it is B.Y.O.B. It's still under the radar and alot of shows are promoted through flyer and word of mouth, so you probably won't read about it in the Current just yet.
The White Rabbit is not a place I frequent, unless there's a big show there that requires 800 capacity. Once a year, they'll throw a good show. It's one hell of an ugly joint, but Spoon and Sons played there a few months ago. Otherwise, you'll catch alot of screamo emo, thrash, and bands with names like Insypid.
Okay, that's all I'm gonna give ya for now, but contact me if you want to check anything out or have any questions.
