I don't get it.

Funny. It's in the Daily Mail and it doesn't have anything about how immigrants are ruining our culture, or how hoodies have ruined everything in general. Perhaps under cover they're lobbying to have hoodied immigrants shipped off to Gliese 581?

the planet is called something like Planet 152C

sweet name
Posted: Apr 25, 2007 5:30 pm

since the star is Gliese 581, they name the planets after the star, and then with "b", "c", "d", etc in the order each planet is discovered. The star its self is assumed to be "a", and then the first planet they found is "581b" and this one is "581c".

i'm a nerd.

i just realized they explain that in the first article, but whatever. i'm naming the planet "Battlestar Galactica Han Solo Prime Directive 3"

Starbuck will never get off the island

They didn't answer the obvious question...is 581d massive enough to protect 581c from meteors?
Posted: Apr 25, 2007 9:01 pm

Bidibidibidi you're a 581c!
Posted: Apr 25, 2007 9:46 pm

I don't know why y'all are showing so much support here. Sure the first few singles from 581c were pretty good, but jesus. It hits the news and everybody with a lab coat and an ipod think they're something.

Shoot at it and see if it shoots back.

Shoot at it and see if it shoots back.
wise words.

next implicit question:
do we have enough rocket fuel to make it there?

as it stands now, it would take a few thousand years. it takes about 8 months to get to Mars, and that's about 35 million miles away. this place is about 120 TRILLION miles away. so, you know, when the call comes, pack a lot of clean underwear.

You're a pack a lot.
Posted: Apr 26, 2007 3:27 pm

robin packs a lot?

there's a lot of sexual tension here
Posted: Apr 26, 2007 3:33 pm

I worked next to a guy named Dix once. Some office asshole came over to our cubicles and loudly pronounced that he was standing at the corner of "Pack n' Dix".
Posted: Apr 26, 2007 3:38 pm

"Pack n' Dix".

HAHA, fag!
Posted: Apr 26, 2007 4:28 pm

Now, we just have to invent hyperdrive and we're all set.

didnt they mention something about having a satellite in orbit around that planet by 2020? what the fuck
Posted: Apr 26, 2007 5:40 pm

It only takes 13 days to orbit the sun. So 1 year=13 days. How would you manage a calendar for that? "Ah, it's Wednesday - I love springtime on 581c!"

"By 2020 at least one space telescope should be in orbit, with the capability of detecting signs of life on planets orbiting nearby stars. If oxygen or methane (tell-tale biological gases) are found in Gliese 581c's atmosphere, this would be good circumstantial evidence for life."

meaning in in our orbit, to look at them, looking at us, and stealing our Earth women.
