Goner Message Board / ???? / Oblivians Set List
Wah Hey

Not that it matters, but anyone actually remember the whole set list? It should be posted so we can piece together the hazy moments.
Saturday was great too but I spent the evening leaning against a pole wondering if another beer would help.

Greg started with "Motorcycle Leather Boy" and he ended with "Pill Popper". Not sure what came in between, its all such a blur. They ended with "Never Change" and for the encore it was "Sunday You Need Love", "Mary Lou" and "I'm Not a Sicko, There's a Plate in my Head".

I know I heard What Rock'n'Roll Is All About in there somewhere's...

I screwed up, there was another switch in there. Eric played drums on one song, "Happy Blues." Greg then went to drums. I'll fix the set list this afternoon. I'm not sure but I don't think they played "What Rock'n'Roll Is All About."

I was thinking to myself "I've seen the Oblivians a bunch of times and I don't remember Eric playing drums that much..."

I swear they played it. I remember rockin' it at home a few times before the party and gettin all excited when the drums came in and bein' surprised to learn it was Greg gettin' all funky at the kit on it at the Hi Tone.

I'm glad someone was taking notes. It's funny that you know every Oblivians song, but not too sure about THE BYRDS.

Yeah that's what you get get from someone who owns all the Oblivians' records and zero Byrds records. That being said, was I right about the Byrds song? I asked some guys standing next to me and he didn't know.

"So you say you wann be a rocknroll star"...that blew me away....what was strange for me, was I had that song, "He was a friend of mine" stuck in my head all weekend.

Here's the lyrics if your interested...

Byrds "So You Want to Be a Rock 'N' Roll Star"

So you want to be a rock and roll star?
Then listen now to what I say.
Just get an electric guitar
Then take some time
And learn how to play.
And with your hair swung right,
And your pants too tight
It's gonna be all right.
Then it's time to go downtown
Where the agent man won't let you down.
Sell your soul to the company
Who are waiting there to sell plastic ware.
And in a week or two
If you make the charts
The girls'll tear you apart.

The price you paid for your riches and fame,
Was it all a strange game?
You're a little insane.
The money, the fame, and the public acclaim,
Don't forget who you are,
You're a rock and roll star.

Y'all are just throwing salt on my wounds. You know that, right?
