Paul & Beck era MOTO never fails to floor me.

Lightning Bolt

Flat Duo Jets

For our purposes, Aerosmith does not count even though everyone knows who the Toxic Twins are & doesn't care about the rest of the band.

Helios Creed & Damon Edge were madcap, but I never really thought of them as a 2 piece. There's always someone else playing on the albums. Anybody have any live stuff of just the 2 of them?

Modey Lemon

I love Modey Lemon, but they haven't been a 2 piece for about 3 years now.

Forgot about Misters Evans & Johnson. Saw them open for Cheater Slicks at the Bucco Lounge one evening. Both of them were most entertaining & as per Ross Johnson "You're a bunch of squirrel hunters from Ohio! Time to lose your plantation mentality!"

twin infinitives is one of the greatest records ever made.

I can never figure out how a record like that or The Flaming Lips's "...Preist Driven Ambulance" wasn't crowned with the moniker of Stoner rock & instead it got passed onto Josh Homme's sound which was really grunge metal.

Bass/Drums from Mobile--best band we played with on tour last year, go to myspace.com/bearproofsuit and check em out in our Top 16. I thought they had 8 minute songs but then I got their cd and it turns out they've got 1 minute songs that they just string together without stopping live. Also all their shirts are fluorescent colors which I am completely in favor of.

Agree. Love that record. I only saw them a couple of times, once as a full rockin band (5 piece or something similar) and an audience of about 20.

The next time they got a lot of hype, which guarantees a packed crowd in somewhere like San Francisco. They sold out the Bottom of the Hill, but by the time they made it there, all the band had quit and they did their old two piece thing with Neil on guitar, keyboards and built-in drum machine. They were completely out there and didn't give a shit about the hipster audience, most of whom left visibly and audibly disgusted. Fantastic. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Some great names here but when did these folks become 2 person bands?

They aren't my favorite but they had a full sound for 2 guys.

The Handsome Family

Feel like a chump for forgetting those. Also, I don't belive I saw Shellshag on this list... I've recorded 3 of their shows & they can be dynamite. One show was with Year Long Disaster

Furthermore, I should add Marc Bolan & Elton John playing "Children of the Revolution" or Bolan & that bongo player doing "Cosmic Dancer" is really fantastic.
