I just woke up and even with the thermostat set at 70 it's freezing in this house. The outside temp says it's 3 degrees. The radio said with the windchill it's makes it feel like 12 below. Fuck this shit...I'm going back to bed.
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 10:44 am

Bout' chilly enough to walk to a bar wearing a sweater. Walked a girl in a skirt and high heels back to my apt. Move.
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 10:47 am

To Florida? I'll pass.
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 10:49 am

Yeah, snow rulez ok??

I know, I know, FL sucks...but nice weather at least makes it tolerable...
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 10:49 am

Dale, where do you live?
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 10:52 am

It's not terribly cold here, but there is going to be freezing rain today. Fuck that.
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 3:43 pm

Not too bad today in southeastern Wisconsin, except for the wind. We're in for a colder blast this weekend and the coming week. The main problem is the heat in my van doesn't work and I gotta drive half an hour to work everyday. I don't want to spend money on fixing it right now. Anybody know if there is such a thing as space heaters for cars that you can plug into the cig lighter or some such shit?

I suppose the ice is finally thick enough after the warm streak to go ice fishing on. I'm mainly an open water fisherman, but I wouldn't mind setting up some tip-ups and drinking some whiskey on the ice...
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 3:45 pm

It's warmed up to about 14 degrees now.
Posted: Jan 26, 2007 3:48 pm

Here's an answer to my own question, I guess...

It's been above freezing 'round here til a couple of days ago (save for that freak snowstorm in mid Oct). Since it's been so cold the past couple of days people have assumed they can take their snowmobiles on the river and lakes. Well, there's been a few snowmobiles pulled out of the waters the past couple of days. Lake Huron (and Lake St. Clair) ain't quite ready for ice fishing yet.

it's bitter cold here.

We've got like the warmest winter ever. About 8 degrees celcius (about 45 F). But it gets better, I've got a gf in Madrid now which I'm flying to every other weekend; 65 degrees Fahrenheit!!!!! Madrid rules!!!! Saw Pete Slovenly there playing his records too last weekend! Life's great!!!

That's because you're well insulated Brad...It's us skinny fuckers that get hit the hardest with the frigid temps.

So am I in the coldest place in lower Michigan or what? I wish it was 20 outside...Fuck! I gotta go to work in a few. The wife keeps making comments about how it'cold it is out but she also has left the door outside open twice this morning so far.

Yep. Almost noon and it's only 18 degrees with 27 mph gusts outside. Only a toasty 64 degrees here in my apartment.

Looks like I'll be driving the gals around tonight. It's too fucking cold to deal with public transport and there won't be a cab to be had anywhere.

That is why you are missing black people. They HATE the cold. This past weekend the Memphis police had a hostage situation with an escaped felon(black dude) .Instead of shooting it out with him ,they simply cut off the electricity to the house and froze his ass into surrendering pretty quickly. Brilliant!
Posted: Jan 31, 2007 6:52 am

18 degrees Farenheit. No Ray Bradbury story here. It's been a very mild winter up until last week.
Posted: Jan 31, 2007 6:57 am

they simply cut off the electricity to the house

He must have been using space-heaters. 8 degrees. I can't bitch since I ain't moved. Plus I can't bitch 'cuz there are others around me who are also experiencing the same misery and if I bitched it would make me look...pussy...

Posted: Feb 3, 2007 7:13 am

It's 2 degrees here, I hear... It's supposed to get colder over the next few days. Coldest temps in the last five years or so, they say...

The fireplace is going good (the hardest part was bringing in the wood from the woodpile) and I'm drinking a brandy old-fashioned while listening to (seriously) a Tangerine Dream record. I feel like an aging German hippy, locked in from the cold and pondering a new sausage recipe.
Posted: Feb 3, 2007 5:08 pm

winter time now, boys. long johns are mandatory. its like 10 out, but the fuckin wind is kickin and the snow sure is coming down. drivin to work at 8AM tomorrow is going to suck

-5 degrees. Makes me think about going back to FL until at least mid March.

My 130 lb frame cannot handle this shit. It takes me at least a half hour to warm up after I\'ve been outside.
Posted: Feb 4, 2007 3:56 pm

1 degree right now. It's suppose to get up to 7 today. At least the sun is out (but a very cold looking sun.)
Posted: Feb 4, 2007 7:31 pm | Edited by: Dutchman

Weatherbug predicts a HIGH of -1 today--right now it's -4! Dunno the wind chill but I'm guessing you can subtract another 15 degrees at least. Last winter I was up in central Minnesota and saw a bank clock with an air temp reading of -33, wind chill was like -60 that day. I kept my tongue off the flagpole that day--triple dog dare or not. Evil Army with Jay played here last night--I wonder how them Po' Suthunahs are dealing with this shit. Ah they're fuckin metal, it probably ain't no thang.

Motherfuck! It is cold tonight. I only have a 4 mile drive from work and my fingers are still numb. The car was making these really weird creaking sounds. It's pissed about the weather too.
Posted: Feb 5, 2007 5:03 am

Yeah, my car has been acting weird in this cold. It takes a while for the transmission to really start working and everything creaks and squeels loudly. I'm supposed to go out to the gay bar and dance to some goth/industrial. I was supposed to meet my friend there an hour ago, but I just can't convince myself to leave the warmth of my bed. It's even freezing in my room because I've got a window that won't close, a door to the outside that's jammed shut with a knife and a space heater that barely works.
Posted: Feb 5, 2007 12:57 pm

fffffuck it's cold out! my car is creaking too, feels like my axles are gonna snap in half. -18 with the wind. my heart goes out to you midwest fuckers.
Posted: Feb 5, 2007 1:07 pm

I like to know what the crazy people are thinking, so I check the Drudge Report a couple times a day. This morning the headline is the windchill, -35, here in Chicago. Evidently there's a windchill warning. I didn't even know those existed.

As a fat man it was ok to be outside for 20 minutes to shovel the sidewalk. Was sad that I was the only person out shoveling, no football on yet so no excuses. Fucking lazy Christians.

10, feels like -6.

todays bible verse has nothing to do with laziness and everything to do with respect for the Lords commandments.

Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Gen 2.1-3

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Heb 4.9-10

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. Ex 20.8-10

11 feels like -7. I HATE it.

Too cold even to walk anywhere and we have started exploring downtown on foot. Pretty annoying to want to get out but not be able to walk to the places we like because it is so cold.

Michigan sucks, I need an island.
I agree

Right now it seems that it's -21C(-6F) but that's not as bad as it's been the last several days, it's been getting to -40's with the windchill. I don't really mind it, except when I'm waiting for buses.

Skiing Copper Mtn yesterday, I ate french fries with mittens on while listening to the Beach Boys and my ketchup froze... so much for lunch.

It's pretty nice and sunny here in LA. It got a little breezy today. Had to put on a jacket.

It's 10 F in Toronto and I still bike quite comfortably to work, but when I get there I have to listen to people bitch all day every time they have to step outside. Leave Canada, you hosers!

Skiing Copper Mtn

awesome! that was the 2nd ski slope i ever skied on! we went to a bar in leadville and asked the bartender to make us some 'colorado motherfukers' (i.e.mind erasers) and what she gave us looked liked coagulated blood.

I'm really pissed. It was 21 last night and 26 the night before, and today it's warmed way up and is supposed to rain tomorrow (low 35) and then get clear and really cold again Wednesday.
Snow...not happening.
Winter in Memphis...a whole coupla months of "it could happen...!"

leadville

Hell of a town... to stop and get gas in, then just keep on driving. Independence Pass is unbelievably beautiful in fall, though.

Yeah I got my 4 pass for Copper this year, and bro-brah at the first lift forgot to scan it so I got the whole day freeeeeeeeee! I'm still so fucking sore now.

this city would be so jacked up crazy.

That's what I'm waiting for: The circa '84 blowout/shutdown.
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 3:17 am

Northerners will laugh, but we had 3-4 ft. drifts. Insane, down here.
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 3:35 am

Shit, on Jan 1 and 2 we had over 4 feet of snowfall alone. I would laugh but it's too fucking cold outside (We're taking 3 below right now).
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 3:55 am

it's so cold my ice cubes are wearing parkas.
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 4:07 am

well, we don't have salt trucks, so any kind of frozen precipitation we get down here pretty much fucks the streets up BAD. plus people aren't used to driving in it, so they go 70 miles an hour on an icy street while talking on their cellphone and wonder why the shit they got into a wreck.

AND half the city freaks the fuck out and there isn't a loaf of bread or any batteries or any milk at any grocery store in the city. everyone is in a frenzy to get all that shit. all i care about is having enough beer for the day.

Heh, Beer preperation is always important. I'm stuck in this shit pit called work til midnight tonight. All the stores that sell decent beer (anything above Bud) close before I'll be out of here. I picked up a six before I went into work. Unless it completely freeze in my car I'll be set.

I lived in Dallas/Ft Worth area for a spell and my neighbors thought I had god like powers cuz I knew how to drive in the snow (one inch and the whole damn city was crippled).
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 4:23 am

im 40 second walk from the kwik trip beer cooler, theyre open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 4:24 am

the only time they close is if theres a power outage
Posted: Jan 22, 2008 4:47 am

I thought there were some jacked beer selling times in WI...or is that just Milwaukee?

You can get beer til 2am round here and there are stores open...but what am I gonna do with 40 ozers of MGD and Busch?

Did I hear something today that it got below zero in Ga. last night?

Posted: Jan 23, 2008 11:32 pm

It's supposed to get down to -12 degrees w/ a -20+ windchill in the wee wee hours.
Posted: Jan 23, 2008 11:41 pm

cold enough to where I have to bring the dogs in tonight and tomorrow night (20s). So much for sleeping all night, they're as bad as babies. Get me up every two hours to go outside...
Posted: Jan 24, 2008 7:54 am

My jacket got locked up where i couldn't get to it at work. So i braved the half-hour walk to my house wearing just my pants,shoes/socks and work TShirt in the approximately 30 degree night air, wind chill factor 25.

No shit!!! I'm not gonna out myself further as a whiny bitch that can't handle cold, but I'm happy about the fridge space we've saved by leaving the beer on the side porch...and it's WAAAY colder than it would've been in the fridge...folks in the midwest, I salute you!

It's not that cold here in London, but it's still too cold for me to walk around in the nip. Which is why I'm wearing one of these.

-4 on the way to work today!

same. there was like a huge wall of clouds over the lake today because the air over land was so cold and dry. it looked like a mountain range behind the skyline. pretty cool.

It's on days like today that I wish I had heat in my shitty van. My fingers had to be carefully removed from my gloves so they wouldn't shatter! It's also pretty neat when the windows ice up and I can't see! You know you're fucked when you're scraping ice off the windows on the INSIDE of the vehicle...

Can't wait for double digit temps this weekend!
Posted: Jan 24, 2008 5:52 pm

So fucking cold and so fucking windy. I'm outta here on Sunday, hope everyone suffers while I'm away and it starts hitting normal temps when I get back. Fuck you Keith!

been raining and colder than usual for weeks, though not nearly as cold as it is in other places. there is currently a tarp over the bed i sleep in, which is pretty rad. definitely going to need to replace the roof in the springtime.

i walked out of work with my friend dan and we both remarked how it was nice for it NOT to be bone-rattlingly cold. we drove by a bank thermometer and it was 19 degrees. which was still 25 degrees warmer than it was when i went to work so i guess it really is all relative.
Posted: Jan 25, 2008 7:06 pm

35-40 degrees, windy, cold rain...I know it ain't that cold, but out here, no one's got the right clothes, cheap shitty heaters that don't work, no one can drive in the rain etc. etc.
