Goner Message Board / ???? / I'm thinking of selling a couple records
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:07 pm

The first Fatals 7" and the Tokyo Electron SSLD 7" for money to spend on other records at the WFMU record fair. You think I should? Anyone here wanna buy both for $120? Doubt it...
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:10 pm

i'm thinking of getting a pizza
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:10 pm

Damn, me too!
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:18 pm

Used Kids will be at the WFMU show. I won't be there though. Haven't worked one for a couple years.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:20 pm

Bummer! I won't go at all unless I sell these fuckin' things. Blew $150 on singles at Crypt last week. Ouch.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:21 pm

Sell 'em at the fair! Line yr trenchcoat with singles...
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:21 pm

Musta gotten some killer stuff...
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:23 pm

When are you planning to go to the fair, Joe? I'll be selling there on Saturday.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:25 pm

I'm not going! Not unless I sell these records. Or unless someone wants to offer me credit.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:29 pm

In fact I was thinking about getting rid of most of my modern singles. I just care less and less about it every day.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:33 pm

wax cylinders are where it's at, bubsa
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:55 pm

got any Hawkwind??
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:56 pm

No, but if I dod I probably wouldn't be selling it.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:59 pm

did.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 5:07 pm

You're a modern single!
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 5:10 pm

I could do with some of those John Lee Hooker singles on Modern...
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 5:16 pm

Me too! I need to make 200 dollars fast. I wanna go buy records real bad.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 5:34 pm

Have you ever tried to trade records at the fair, Joe? I haven't, but I'm thinking about giving it a try. Over the summer I scored a 45 that has allegedly been sold for $180+ according to popsike, and it's really not my thing, so...
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 5:37 pm

The stuff I'm looking to get rid of is not even close to the same stuff I'm looking for, so the people selling what I want won't want what I have.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 5:41 pm

Yeah, I suspect I'm in the same boat. The dudes who are selling blues 78s or crazy free jazz records aren't gonna want a 45 by some obscure rock band from Indiana...

Your Depends are in the mail.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 7:20 pm

you can't sell that tokyo electron single for high dollar after i traded it to you for cheap! no fair! do over!
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 7:30 pm

I traded you a $30 single for that! You're on crack!
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 7:36 pm

It's at least $23.99 anyway.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 7:57 pm

fair enough. just not sure i woulda traded it if i thought you were gonna flip it (as i have buds who i know would love to have that record...)
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 8:05 pm

Duh, if I wanted to trade just to sell it I woulda done it a long time ago. That was about a year and a half ago when we traded. I just don't care about it as much anymore.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 8:10 pm

Was I really supposed to know whether or not I'd want to keep it forever?
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 8:12 pm

naw. good point.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 8:14 pm

Sell those records. You know you'll buy stuff you'd rather have/hear with the dough, so there's really no reason not to. My two cents. My two dads.

I meant to quote this part. I'M FUCKED
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 8:21 pm

Yeah, but I don't have enough time between now and the WFMU fair. I really fucked up the planning. I guess I still will sell this shit though and bring the money to some other record haunt. I was hoping to get some freaky soundtracks/ go-go/ loungey shit. Maybe I could take the money to Academy. They have lotsa good shit like that.
Posted: Oct 31, 2006 8:32 pm

this goes without saying, but keep us/me posted when you're bringing that stuff to market. i'm sure you've got all kinds of crazy stuff in those stacks!

I don't really have alot. I have a few hundred singles (which most of you probably already have) from the mid 90's on. They're available right now though!

Does it look like you'll be able to make it to the fair, Joe?
Posted: Nov 3, 2006 5:39 pm

Naw, I ain't sold anything. I'm gonna list a bunch of shit this weekend on ebay though. I'll probably take my earnings to Academy since I wiped out Cool and Crazy of their best 45's. I mean the best of the ones that sixteene didn't get.
Posted: Nov 3, 2006 5:59 pm

Ah well, catch you another time, then. Good luck with the sellin'.
Posted: Nov 3, 2006 6:51 pm

yeah i ain't goin either. always the same stuff now. i remember one year i made like 3 grand over the weekend there. alberto made about the same another year sellin dub recs to this one rich guy. that was before any of you fags knew him. seen richard an the young lions an the shadows of knight another time (or maybe it was all the same time. i can't remember) alberto rules!!!
Posted: Nov 3, 2006 7:05 pm

The first time I sold at the fair was a real eye-opener. I priced a bunch of rare stuff fairly, naively thinking that they'd end up going to folks who'd be excited to get the records at a reasonable price. Then right after I loaded in, the dealers swarmed to my table and bought all that stuff up. I made most of my money before the doors even opened.
Posted: Nov 6, 2006 4:11 pm

I couldn't bring myself to sell the Fatals 1st single but I have these up if anyone's looking. Actually a couple of those are 16's. Happy bidding, fags!
