Goner Message Board / ???? / Favourite Gay Vocalists

I recently bought a copy of The Dicks "Ten Inches" 10". Currently, Gary Floyd is my favourite gay vocalist. Darby Crash is now in second, and coming in a distant third is Bob Mould...

I used to buy cigs at a smoke shop that Gary Floyd worked in. I made him a tape once, and he told me I was "sweet."

That's a cool story. I wouldn't want to go to the Bookstore he used to hang out at though. That "Bookstore" song is fucking hilarious. "Tell your fat fucking wife. I saw you at the Safeway with your fat fuckin' wife and you can't even say 'hi'? FAGGOT!!!!"

Posted: Sep 2, 2006 10:25 pm
He sang along to those Chopin songs on certain special occasions, but I guess you wouldn't really call him a vocalist though, would you?
O.K. then, the guy from Erasure.
Posted: Sep 2, 2006 10:31 pm
Freddie Mercury
Dude from Pet Shop Boys
dude from EMF ( unbelieveable..!!!)
Paul McCartney

Dude from Pet Shop Boys

Neil Tennant doesn't have the greatest range but what he does is good.

the guy from Erasure.

Now Andy Bell has a great set of pipes, that guy is amazing.

Gary Floyd is amazing. Biscuit is great but Big Boys aren't hardcore.

Best gay hardcore vocalist goes to Martin from Crudos/Limp Wrist or Choke.

What about the dude from Loincloth? Or is he the guitar player?
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 2:16 am
Sylvester, the first and the gayest.

Dusty Springfield, Leslie Gore

Pen Rollings. Guitar.

He definitely wins the award for Heaviest Gay Guitarist.
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 2:37 am
Isn't Loincloth instumental? Or do they have the vocalist from Confessor? Or am I stuck in the Virginias?
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 2:42 am
I think it's all instro. They don't still exist, do they?
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 3:21 am
Uh, .....Marc Almond.

my dark secret....

Nah, I think he's great and am proud to be a fan.

"Marc and the Mambas" being his best phase prolly tho.

one time i went to see suicide at max's but it was totally packed an braincrushingly loud an 1000 degrees inside so i went out on the street to listen. (for those of you who never went to max's (poor darlings) there was a restauarant an bar on the ground floor with the world's greatetst jukebox. the bands played on the second floor where there was a bar an lots of booths an small tables an the offices an dressing rooms were on the third floor. but they used to leave the windows open to the second floor in the summer so you could hear the music pretty good from the street.) anyways i was leanin against a car wearin my pink flourescent tie that i eventually gave to the bass player of wire an klause nomi sidled up next to me an started chattin. we listened to the whole set leanin against a car an talkin. (my friend kristian hoffman wrote a lot of his songs...) the end.

So which person in that story was gay?
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 6:26 pm | Edited by: dirk diggler
martin rev???

oh i thought you meant not gay...
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 6:31 pm
Jhon Balance of Coil, and alot of the people already mentioned like: Mark Almond, Neil Tennant, Gary Floyd and Darby Crash. I think most singers should be at least a little gay.
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 8:14 pm
I'll never turn to the dark side, and you'll be forced to destroy me.
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 8:54 pm
Neil Tennant,

I've been thinking about him ever since I posted his name the other day... He's kinda like the Lemmy of gay Euro disco: limited range, not too flashy, completely and immediately identifiable, perfect at what they do and completely comfortable within their niche. No mole though.

you mean they're not?
Posted: Sep 3, 2006 9:22 pm
Phil Anselmo--I like the second Down album more than anything Pantera ever did, though.
