So, on Tuesday I was eating at Taco Johns for Taco Tuesday... like I do every Tuesday... but at this time they are currently remodeling their building, inside and out. Yesterday, late afternoon I noticed that my car was covered in little orange spray paint dots. It's a rather nice car and I can't get the dots off.

I have to leave here soon to go talk to the owner and get a check for my pain and suffering.

Does anybody know how I can safetly remove the paint from my car without ruining the original paint job? That way I can walk off with a nice check.

if it is latex paint, a hard scrubbing with warm soapy water would work, but as it's exterior paint, it is probably oil based or acrylic or some shit.

oil based you could get off with mineral spirits, but I don't know if that would also take the finish off your car.

take the finish off your car.

I believe it would - along with skin off your hands, if you don't wear gloves.

There is some stuff called Varsol that is a oil base cleaner sometimes used to thin paint....we used to use it to do pretty much what your trying to do but you got to do it before the paint sets.....and it will dull the finish slightly but you can bring it back with a good wax job.....lot of work

What you do is find someone who will give a higher quote on the paint job than it's worth, or just don't bother getting it fixed. Personally, I'd get a quote from somewhere really expensive, and then just not get it fixed.

Just use a light rubbing compound before waxing it. It should buff right off.

Assuming this to be a new car with a clear coat finish and the dots of paint rather fine and mist like, a simple hand polish (not wax - save that for later) may remove the (dried) paint.

or i could pay off the countless amount of people i owe money to

Damn it, I already told you to get a high quote, go to Earl Schieb and pocket the rest. I don't think you'll ever find any cars w/ latex paintjobs, not just because of the exterior thing (lots of houses are painted in latex) but because oil bonds to metal much better. Most glossy paints are oil. Fuck you. You could also buy touch-up paint matched to the original - it's pretty cheap, but can look like ass.

When are you going to start thinking about yourself, and your needs Josh?
Posted: Jul 27, 2006 8:25 pm
I just give and give and give.

Should I travel 200 miles to the closest Earl Schieb for a quote?
Posted: Jul 27, 2006 8:33 pm
Oh, and thanks Judge. The clay is exactly what they said they were going to use.

woot! looks like yer in the money then!

Now, what's the best way to present this 900 quote to the douche contractor considering he assumed it would be less than 100 dollars after he looked at it.
Posted: Jul 27, 2006 8:40 pm
Well, it's a legitimate quote, so, just be like "here's the quote"
Posted: Jul 27, 2006 8:41 pm
p.s. get the contractor's info in case they try and fuck you over. if they do, I can maybe help you feel better about it at a later date.

I wont get fucked over. I've known the owners of that Taco Johns for 10 years. If they fuck me over, I will fuck all their daugters.

Dude, I can't believe you haven't done that already anyway? Does the phrase FREE TACOS mean anything to you?
Posted: Jul 27, 2006 9:34 pm
its almost like you're talking to yourself... or vise versa.
Posted: Jul 27, 2006 10:32 pm
Wha? I'd make a claim to my insurance company and have the taco shop pay for that shit (that is, if you have insurance).
