Goner Message Board / ???? / How was last night?
Posted: May 28, 2006 3:30 pm
Best show ever?
Posted: May 28, 2006 3:48 pm
Fuck yeah! The sound was really good, the bands all ruled....Oblivians played for at least 1 1/2 hours. The first part of their set was w/ Quintron (who had a really lovely white suit w/ sparkles and funny white fisherman-like-type boots). Demon Claws were great, and the Persuaders fucking rocked it HARD.

There was some crazy french dude (I think) who played keyboards in Demon Claws, & was dancing his ass off Friday night, but last night, at one point I witnessed him not fully throw up, but he kinda like spit up on himself at the bar. Poor guy. He ended up resurfacing with some newly found sobriety later. That was some of the best people watching of the night.
Posted: May 28, 2006 4:43 pm
HAHAHA!! Newly found sobriety happens like every 10 minutes in France, I think, as a law.

Man, Persuaders were fucking insanely awesome!! Oblivians were absolutely fucking great, greatest ever. cococoma was awesome as well, and I was PISSED that I had to get up and get down there on time to see them!! DAMN!! I wanted to sleep a couple more hours.

It's funny. exactly 12 hours ago I had just arrived back in Chicago, on my way to Bill and Lisa's to park my car and run to catch the last band. I missed everything but that, and I hate it. I really wanted to see the Persuaders joined by Jay Reatard. And I wanted to see Demon Claws + Piero, my temporary, multi-national roommates. And I am truly upset I missed Cococomas. I love those guys a lot. And I missed everything the night before.
I did get to see a fucking fantastic and long Oblivians set. And we do have it all on tape. I just got home to Memphis. Music coming.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:19 pm
Thank you!
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:22 pm
i hurt right now.

plus i got the best wake up hair i've ever had. all night last night i had really good rocknroll dreams. actually i'm lying. i didn't sleep last night. all morning i had really good rocknroll dreams.

By the way. It's 11:37. I'm now drinking beer. Hooray, beer!
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:36 pm
are you still in chicago or in memphis? jack stands is the super driver
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:42 pm
I'm back in Memphis now. Setting up gear. I've got a lot of music to go through, and most of it, I didn't get to hear. I'll put stuff up as I go, but I'm halfway tempted to start with the Oblivians. Either way, I should have everything up by late tonight. I have yardwork to do, too.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:43 pm
if you need help with yard work give windy a call. she needs money.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:45 pm
No. I'm a meticulous motherfucker when it comes to my lawn. No one can touch it, but me. However, she is supposed to bring me a beer every 15 minutes. Without pay. You can tell her I said that, too.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:47 pm
I'm having a beer too! Now post that set!
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:50 pm
Joe, you couldn't be there, I'll ask you. Who do you want to hear first?
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:51 pm
oooh oh oh! i'm not sure if they covered it in the past -- but the last song the oblivians did with quintron - the "monkey" song - was fucking fantastic! i can't wait to hear what Mr. Stands has!

now i want a beer!
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:52 pm
Y'all live on the East coast. Beer is allowed after 12:00. People are still in church in Memphis. Have some respect.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:55 pm
You know...there's a brewery rule - you HAVE to have a beer before 12noon. 11:30 is really beer:30.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:56 pm
Joe's call, c lotta.

Beer store opens in two minutes. Precisely when Church lets out.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:56 pm
Joe, you couldn't be there, I'll ask you. Who do you want to hear first?

Awww, you know.

Posted: May 28, 2006 5:58 pm
Soul or a rocker, Joe?
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:59 pm
Sorry. Didn't see the post. Monkey song coming up.

Then I'll do all this in order and add another at the end.
Posted: May 28, 2006 5:59 pm
The Monkey Song! I don't know - it was on that radio show Greg Cartwright DJd a couple months ago now...(Dos Mutantes) "Lemme tell you about evolution......" "A monkey never starved it's baby!" "A monkey never put no fence around his coconut tree..."
Posted: May 28, 2006 6:01 pm

You need a beer after mowing that grass!
Posted: May 28, 2006 10:04 pm
Got one, thanks. You got one? It was a five bagger. I let it go for a bit (I do every year at the begining of the hot).
Posted: May 28, 2006 10:04 pm
Does everyone have a beer?
Posted: May 28, 2006 10:14 pm
I juist finished a day of one 12 oz. Dos Equis and 2 24's of Becks. Should I have another? I'm gonna make artichokes and avocado, jack cheese, purple onion, tomato, avocado bugers in a few minutes. I probably should have at least a couple huh?

Beers I mean.

That monkey-track is so great... Europe seems so boring right now. I saw the Deadly Snakes the day before yesterday and I could have seen the Black Lips & Bastouns yesterday and I WILL see the New Christs and Radioreelers soon, but this "Blackout" is the real thing...

Pill Popper

Monkey Speaks His Mind was BRILLIANT. Persuaders were awesome. Oblivs played my faves from the sympathy sessions stuff. Feel Real Good was a highlight because it pretty much summed up the entire week in Chicago for me.

MOTO were great as always, Angry Angles killed, Mangina was like a Gallagher performance, but worse.
Posted: May 29, 2006 5:39 am
How come you weren't down here helpin me paint this cieling Bazzookkka?

Posted: May 30, 2006 3:57 pm
Nice yard, Stands!

Mike, if you really get hankering for some yard time, gimme a call. Y'all can come over to Jersey for an afternoon. We got cha covered. It's at least five degrees cooler here than in the City. I set up the grill yesterday. There's beer and hotdogs in the fridge. Mind you, our yard ain't as pretty as Jack's, but it'll do...

Besides, I've been working too hard. I could use a break!
Posted: Jun 5, 2006 1:13 am
It was def. awesome to watch that set with you, Sir Stands. Your driving prowess was an impressive tale to hear. And apparently you know how to drive a mean lawn mower, too!
