To become my dinner. Had a yellow curry fired chicken (half) last night at a little thai place. Yummy! I love chicken. They had pretty good Crab Ragoon too...

Quit talkin about food, Todd.

The Gris-Gris opened up for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in SF last month. Both shows were very sold out at the shee-shee Bimbo's 365 Club in North Beach. If they can do it, why not the Black Lips?

Bacon.

So what. Black Lips getting huge = minds being cracked open!

Doubtful it means they're gonna change their style at all! Or even charge more for their shows, even though they're total genius and deserve every fucking cent they can garner.

Didn't we go over this already? They can open for fucking Kelly Clarkson for all I care!

Didn't this sucker just buy a repress that just came out and paid $47 for it?!
Posted: May 3, 2006 7:05 pm

the guy that payed $122 for the first 7" didnt even get the first 7". the one he got was the 2nd pressing (die slaughterhaus / brand name records split release) of the first 7". the real first 7" first press is just on dies slaughterhaus.
Posted: May 3, 2006 7:10 pm

Isn't Freakout on Electric Human Project the first 7"?
Posted: May 3, 2006 7:13 pm

Ah, so the 1st pressing on Die Slaughterhaus only is the first.
I always take Grunnen Rocks as the truth, but he can be wrong too I guess.
Posted: May 3, 2006 7:17 pm

yea grunnen is wrong.
Posted: May 3, 2006 7:56 pm

I wonder how much the boxsets they did in DS will go for..... and the Freakout single comes in diferent color sleeves too.
Hey Ned get me a ticket and i am there....
Posted: May 3, 2006 8:00 pm

Alberto, don't you leave me in Rotterdam without you spinning the wheels for a second time!!!!!!
Posted: May 3, 2006 8:10 pm

sorry bigboy, how was the show???
i will be in Amsterdam this sunday..... see u there
Posted: May 3, 2006 8:22 pm

except for Nathaniel Mayer, who did excellent, the evening sucked!
I felt sympathy for Mark, who had to present another night of fake r&b and lame blues bands.
What's happening in Amsterdam this sunday?
Posted: May 3, 2006 8:23 pm

Alberto's gonna roll a Cheech and Chong hash joint.
Posted: May 3, 2006 8:27 pm

man i am gonna smoke all they got for sure
Posted: May 3, 2006 8:30 pm

On the other side of my brother's appartment is a Cheech and Chong coffeeshop, that's why we always miss the metro.
I don't smoke hash, but I have to wait for my lil brother.

i've never seen the "marilyn" single on just die slaughterhaus. is that really true? i thought the first press was a split too, but was just black, then they represses it as red later?

i got a copy of it years ago while visiting new york, i went to bleeker bobs and the guy behind the counter (john?) told me i should check the black lips out, and he pulled the single out of a stack. anyway, that one has the brand name logo on the sleeve to, so you're saying its 2nd press?
Posted: May 3, 2006 10:39 pm

I bought that die slaughthaus/brand name records 7" from the Black Lips themselves for the princely sum of $3. I bought it from them when they were on tour waaay back in Spring '04, back when $3 would buy you ~TWO gallons of gas.
Didn't this sucker just buy a repress that just came out and paid $47 for it?!

Oh yeah, I also bought that repress from the Black Lips themselves waaay back three weeks ago. I bought it from them for the princely sum of $4. Enough to buy ONE gallon of gas and a king sized Snickers bar.

it exists, once i get all these katrina 7"s mailed out, i'll snap a photo of one my die slaughterhaus only 7"

record collectors are gay.
Posted: May 4, 2006 2:38 pm

If you got to the Barnes St. DSH 1 - you might find some fucked up copies.
You can probably still even find some for $1 around local record stores in Atlanta.
Posted: May 4, 2006 3:17 pm

So what are the kids at this show who've never seen/ heard of the Black Lips gonna think? The kids will most likely fall in love, but I think that the Yeah Yeah Yeah's real fans (20 something non-adventurous Starbuck's coffe drinking cunts) are gonna be mortified. ALRIGHT! It's almost time, too. Is their set gonna be captured on film? Well, we know it will be, but will we ever have access to it?
Posted: May 4, 2006 3:38 pm

Went to the first of two shows and the kids really dug it...I'd say by end of set the club was about 1/2 full (maybe 400 plus people) and they were getting into it, even went a bit nuts during MIA, and when Cole's wig fell off! haha...

and 20 something is a bit old...these were more like 16 something - heard some kids in line talking about their A.P. Spanish test...haha

Just because they're opening for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs won't make them huge. The Up opened for the Stooges and the MC5 all the time. (Then again, so did the Bob Seger System, so maybe I'm wrong.)

Anyone who pays over $100 for a record that came out a couple years ago is a douche with no forsight.
Posted: May 4, 2006 4:42 pm

The Up opened for the Stooges and the MC5 all the time.

But The Stooges and the MC5 weren't huge. At all. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are huge. I'm not saying that it will make the B'lips huge, but that's a bad comparison, dumbfuck. Oh yeah, I think I want that Crown psych lp at Academy. What's it called?
