hammer tyme. gold chains. parachute pants. designs shaved on people's heads. phat overalls with one side undone. neon blinding the eyes. puffy sleeves. the revival of grunge and alterna rock. baggy denim shirts and doc martens. bring it back.

i have high hopes that people will start killing over shoes again except this time they tape it and put it on youtube.

Henna tattoos, birkenstocks, jerseys, corduroy. Rock it and break it before someone else catches on, brah!
Posted: Feb 20, 2006 4:43 pm

Filthy jeans worn under filthy hippie dresses. White people with dread locks. White people becoming completely culturally confused.
Cut off demin shorts, long johns and doc martins. petulie. Bad things...

you people obviously haven't been to Indiana lately, i can see most if not all of those things on my daily trip to the village pantry. anybody remember the starter NBA overall shorts, i saw someone with those on this weekend, the chicago bulls were the team, the really fucked up part of it was that it was like 11 degrees this weekend, i guess meth keeps you warm.

I saw a dude awhile ago with the grunge uniform that looked like he was ready for the pit at a TAD show. He could have been an extra for the film "Hype". Loved the white long john underoos under baggy combat shorts.

I was hanging out with a 19 year old chick the other night who said "I love Nirvana" and "I love The Smashing Pumpkins" about three or four times. Green Day are also still one of the biggest bands in the world.

I'm not sure the 90's are really over yet....

that shit held over the same way Hendrix and The Doors probably did in 1975...

It's gonna take awhile to fade in the minds of young stoners before it can make a "revival"

I'm writing the liner notes for the "Eight Way Santa" tribute album as we speak.

Who's on the bill for the 90s reunion tour. I say Gin Blossoms, with one of the original members; Soul Asylum, none of the originals; Creed, Scott Stapp only original member; and Suzanne Vega. From the sheds they go to the casinos.

There are already plenty of cover bands that rake in the cash doing early/mid 90s alternahits

I'm talking Candlebox, 7Mary3, Tripping Daisy, Sponge, Dandelion, Bush

All the self loathing 90s hits!
YEAH!
Posted: Feb 23, 2006 12:10 am

CANDLEBOX... of course. Brilliant.
How could I forget them?
They could do three or four songs from their new CD, the one no one has even the slightest interest in that they claim friends have been urging them to release after their groundbreaking winter tour of Starbucks on the Great Plains circuit (Nebraska, Idaho, one of the Dakotas).
Then they do their one hit which the group eagerly anticipates so they can shout "Fuck You" at just the right moment.
They are followed by Blind Melon which has a Shannon Hoon look a like, sound a like.
God, I can hardly wait.

Kurt Cobain kissing Courtney Love on the cover of Sassy....actually my favorite 90's grunge couple was Julianna Hatfield and Evan Dando. Did they or didn't they? Was she really still a virgin? Such intrigue!

Now if you will excuse me, I'm listening to Incesticide and then SuperFuzzBigMuff Plus early Singles.

Bazooka Joe and I went to Lallapalooza. It was so awsome. We took a bunch of X durring Rollins Band and Korn. Joe was freaking out and banging his head durring Jane's Addiction and I remember his dread locks just like going all over the place. I was tripping so hard and every time I laughed it hurt because we just got our tongues pierced that morning. I remember crying when Flea and Perry Ferrel came out and did a killer version of "Candle in the Wind", this was right after Di's death and everybody was on the same wave length, the whole studium had lighters out.... fuckin' incredible. Later, while I was making out with this L7 chick, Joe passed out becasue he was skanking so hard durring No Doubt. You'll never revive the 90's... that was like just the perfect strom that happened!

You must have me confused with Bazooka Jah.
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 12:52 am

I ruined my polynisian tribal bicep tat that I got just 2 days before the show. I was so excited to show it off to everybody.... The dude told me to keep it out of the sun... oh well, it was a chick magnet! Yeah!

Dude, that was back when you used to have like.... fuckin' 20 million piercings in your face. Dude, you looked rad!

Everything looks rad when you're candy flipping!
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 1:17 am

Remember the "Rock's Next Gen" show we went to with Nelson, Julian Lennon and Wilson Phillips. There were some good shows back then.
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 1:19 am

What about when I was all, "Check out this new Jesus Jones cassingle?" and you were all, "as soon as I finish cutting the bottoms of my jeans off!"
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 1:25 am

Remember when I used to do my dead-on Clinton impression: "Where's Monica?", "Who wants to give me a Lewinsky?"
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 3:35 am

Remember when we were at Woodstock 2. We were grabbing all those chicks that went crowd surfing? So rad! Later, all those guys were gang-banging those girls in the mosh pit and I was taping it with my Hi-8 camera. That was so cool. The Cranberries, Green Day, Metallica and Sheryl Crow were some of my favs!!

The 2000's are the 90's with crows feet. Minus the 8-ball jackets and mushroom cap haircuts, I can't really tell if it's a new decade.
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 7:54 pm

Bazooka Joe, remember when you and I went to the Brian Setzer Orchestra/Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show and that chick wouldn't Lindey with you because you were wearing Dockers? She said that they weren't "authentic" enough. After the show we went back to your place, smoked pot and watched all your 90210 episodes on VHS?
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 7:58 pm

WINNER!
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:00 pm

Joe, do you remember that band we had "Laid 2 Wayst"? We should have kept that going.... a cool kinda funk/punk/grunge mix. I thought we sounded a little bit like the Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Faith No More with a Ugly Kid Joe thrown in. I looked pretty good on stage... once I got my nipple rings in and sprayed myself down with "Bod".... good times!

Takin' care of my LSD cravin's...
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:19 pm

Joe, I remember when we were at that Rave on a ton of X. We were running down that grass hill and your Dr Seuss/Cat in the Hat-hat came off and you tripped into me and I swallowed my pacifier. I started bad tripping but those Phish/Hippie Neo-Hippie guys and that girl dressed like Zena Warrior Princess all grabbed my and stroked my body while chanting, "Mellow, Mellow, Mellow..." Later you choked on your whistle while dancing to the House/Jungle/trance re-mix of "James Brown is Dead"
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:26 pm

chanting, "Mellow, Mellow, Mellow..."

NO FUCKING WAY!!!

The most obscure reference of this thread. Unreal.

Haunted George is bringin' the P.L.U.R.

Didn't you think Will Smithe was way better on his "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" tour than on his "Wild, Wild West" tour? You could totally tell he was lip syncing when they showed him in close up on the viewing monitors and this wasn't that long after the whole Milli Vanilli scandle. I'll still always LOVE him though, U2's ZOOTV tour might have been some of the most happenin' events of that whole decade.
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:35 pm

OK, now you're just talkin' dumb.
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:36 pm

I bet it's intentional downplaying though. Always one step beyond, eh, George?
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:37 pm

Sorry, home sick today and not so sharp.
Posted: Feb 24, 2006 8:41 pm

Yer sick alright. See if you can't catch a Melrose Place rerun.
