I'm looking forward to the new Old Skull...

Those guys have to be in their 30's now? Disney take a whack at it!
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 5:30 pm

Whatever. This is the greatest tween-oriented pop shit that's ever come out, you'd rather have kids be listening to Jessica Simpson and some other whore starlets?
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 5:59 pm

Hey Womb, you're right on it being better listeninge for the kiddies than hip hop or HUMMA NUMMA NUMMA (Num sayin'?)sounding girl crud, but DEV2.0 is simply a train wreck. what is next, the Mickey DeadBoy Club?
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 6:01 pm

I hope so!
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 6:01 pm

We need to see the bios from those kids too....What kinda street cred do they have? Are they the offspring of punks? I'm guessing they are from Brentwood or something.

Hopefully "Sonic Reducer" could be changed to a song about snacking at the Sonic chain of fast food retailers.
Posted: Jan 26, 2006 6:10 pm

Sonic Fast Foodster, ain't no drug user.

I've got my double cheese machine, got my burger dreams!

I don't know Womb, I think this is all pretty sick.

Warner Bros. are tight bros.

"Whip It" has been used in several commercials, for products such as Pringles, Twix, Gateway Computers, and most recently Swiffer cloths. Due to the nature of Devo's contract with Warner Brothers, they do not own the rights to the original recording of "Whip It". Devo often re-records their songs for use in advertising, and for the Swiffer ad, the band also agreed to change the lyrics as well. One example of the changes is the line "You must whip it" which was replaced by "You must Swiffer".

"Mongoloid" used for new Army recruitment commercial.
"Penetration In The Centerfold" for new hot wings at Hooters.
"Uglatto" for Extreme Home Facial Makeover Edition.

A skinny pre-teen blonde girl singing "I got an urge I gotta purge" in a song that's now about FOOD is a little unsettling.

I got the CD and the DVD in the mail the other day... I am very happy! jerkin' back and forth and big mess are awesome!

Here is the story:
Devo records kids' album for Disney
Devo is recording an album of its classic hits performed by children, to be released on Disney records:
For the project, all five members of Devo regrouped to re-record some of its best known songs, including the 1980 hit "Whip It!" with vocals provided by a quintet of kids. Also included will be "Cyclops" and "The Winner," the first new studio tracks from Devo in nearly two decades.
The "Devo 2.0" CD is due March 17 via Disney Sound, a family-oriented division of Walt Disney Records. A companion DVD will feature animated and live-action videos for each of the tracks directed by Devo bassist

Somebody is laughing all the way to the bank.

Love it!

I have tears welling in my eyes but not from laughter...

I like how "Girl U Want" becomes "Boy U Want"...Disney ain't no place for lezbos!
Posted: Jan 31, 2006 11:17 pm

then Dogs of War should be Dogs of Peace. Right?
what about I need a chick.....??

I need a chick
to pickup sticks
I need a cat
to kill that rat

????
Posted: Feb 1, 2006 5:39 am

They could do "Speed Racer" without changing the lyrics much at all. Well, except maybe the part about being a big pirate who likes to kill, and a barbie doll who likes sex... Never mind.

I like how "Girl U Want" becomes "Boy U Want"...

In the video I'm watching right now she's saying "girl u want."

Disney ain't no place for lezbos!

...or is it?
Posted: Feb 1, 2006 8:02 pm

Huh? The track is listed as "Boy U Want" and that's what she says in the audio clip...maybe there's room for bicuriousness at Disney?

Devo Suck
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 4:13 pm

"LOST EDGE ALERT" is right! I wouldn't be here w/out Devo so forgive me if i don't have the sense of humor you'd think i would about this. I don't care if they use their music in ads but for the band to edit down their own shit? I guess nothing's stopping 'em from doing it but that don't mean it's right.

I don't believe in nothin' no more,maaaannn!
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 4:24 pm

I still can't believe this exists. I've watched all of the clips and looked at all of the pictures and part me still refuses to believe it.
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 5:28 pm

"I'm a girl on a mission.
I'm a girl having fun.
I got a picture in my pocket of the lucky one..."

I've got a funny feeling that these kids might be faking it.
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 5:39 pm

thats awsome!!
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 5:45 pm

maybe we can get some weird short lived devo cartoon out of it then i can die a happy fan boy
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 5:47 pm

i am speechless.
