Goner Message Board / Upcoming Shows For Goners Everywhere / I saw Turbonegro last night....
Posted: Sep 25, 2003 2:02 am
My interest in this band has waned in the last few years. Like anyone who was into this band at one point, I thought Ass Cobra and Apocalypse Dudes rules but the newest one was weird, and I only listened to it once. So I got tickets for me and my beau when they first went on sale, then I kept forgetting about it and yesterday I was very close to going to see Pirates of the Carribean at the cheap theater instead....but I went and it was really, really, really fun. Lots of meatheads, not enough songs off of those two albums, and not ever really that much crazy behavior from the band, but it was really a great show, nonetheless. But I have to ask....what kind of a dork wears a sailor hat with Turbonegro airbrushed on it? The dork to my left. What kind of weird Cap'n Lou dude with longish curly hair and a curly mustache shaves his arms and kept making my arms itch with his stubble? The guy to my right.

It was really fun though.

i saw a video for "sell your body to the night" on M2 Extreme Rock the other night. it was pretty bad. still havent heard the new album (and probably wont for a while). i saw em back in march and they still got the goods live.

did you see them in chicago? i was there. i thought the crowd was tame, a big pissing contest of off the shoulder shirts and rod stewart haircuts. fuck chicago...memphis show was lots better. happy tom, i liked you better when you were fat. still, they were okay, i guess i just wasn't feeling it. the metro sucked...

Arman, what does that mean?

Razor, you didn't think there were a lot of meatheads? Maybe it was where I was standing....but it was all fat guys throwing beers.

i was sort of in the periphery of the meatheads. i guess i'd rather have meatheads over expensive shoes any day. in memphis, there just seemed to be more love. people shared their drinks. then again i've been in a pretty shitty ass mood for the last week, so maybe it was just my temperament. i am even thinking of bailing on columbus this weekend, and i've been waiting a year to see the starvations again...fuck.

I lost my shoe and it ended up stage, guess it liked the show more than me. Enjoyable but woulda been better a few years ago. And yes the Metro sux big donkey dingus'.

norah, we all know your "airbrush" fetish and fascination with capt. lou lookalikes, so why not track them down and re-form AIRBRUSH with a wrestling twist to it...

you are dead to me.

Not really. But Airbrush with wrestling...it just wouldn't work.

I saw em the day before the Chicago show in Detroit. I thought it was fucking amazing. No Sailor Man or Denim Demon though, but the place went nuts as soon as Midnight Nambla started. I'm still a big fan.

And there's the problem, Arman...Airbrush wasn't karaoke! But you wouldn't know cause you never went to see us. Sigh.

ok ok, lip synching over pre-recorded music and karaoke are completely different. but you get my point. GOLD I TELLS YA!
i did come to see y'all once, but i missed it. whatever, you were pee-your-pants-drunk anyway, you wouldn't have noticed if i was there.

Fergot that Tom was from Wisconsin until he did a "shout out" to Superior, WI. Yeah, it was a great show, they were bigger-than-life, too many songs from the new album, but it was worth paying triple what I normally pay for a show. Dunno' if I need to do it again, but glad I did it.

Obviously I DID notice, Arman!

Yeah, Todd, you're playing my song.

saw them tonight in Austin. It was the OLd Folks Early show, but damn it was pretty good. I prefer the older material but the "Hits" were all there. It was Emos's 11th Aniversary, but the truth is,Jesus Christ Superfly headlined the first night they were open. but I think is was in either April or May. Hell, it could of been June, but I know it wasn't in September. That was a whole lotta beers ago.
