On the Gonerfest twitter acount, it was asked who we'd like to see. I'd like to see the Oblivians and Mr. Quintron doing the entire play nine songs album. That would be sweet. That being said, I gotta start getting some of these Aussie albums so I'll know the songs.

Note: this "short" list is for purposes of amusement only. I would never presume that I am worthy of choosing the line-up of Gonerfest 7.

Marked Men, Hex Dispensers, Cheater Slicks (can never get enough of the greatest band on this planet!), Carbonas, Les Thugs (just putting it out there), Night Marchers, The Ponys, Cococoma (I can never seem to catch them live!), The Spits, Catatonic Youth, Dan Melchior Und Das Menace, Nice Smile, Dexter Romweber Duo, Wooden Tit or Bassholes, Nothing People, A-Frames, Cheveu, Brainbombs, Lamps, Tyvek, Thee Oh Sees, The Hunches, The Hospitals, Wounded Lion, The Clean (I'm not being a smartass), The Homosexuals, Eat Skull, Mudhoney or Monkeywrench, The Saints, Mannequin Men...

That's all I got at the moment, without treading some seriously strange territory.
Posted: Feb 7, 2010 10:46 am

almost all of those have played in past years
Posted: Feb 7, 2010 11:31 am

Hey yeah - the Ponys would be awesome actually...

Armitage Shanks will cause all of us to go home in a fukken ambulance. UV Race and Total Control are worthy enough for drive to Memphis. Could have a stage full of 12-string jangle guitars playing Travelling Wilberrys Flowering Satori Always Band for 10 hours and I'd still come for the above 3 bands. Can't wait.

Top wants:

Menthols
GG King
Dog Police
Captain 9's & The Knickerbocker Trio
Mayyors
Afrika Korps
Gut Reactions
Legendary Wings
Drugs Dragons
Spits
Negative Approach (Easy Action if they pretend like they can't)

Need to be seen again at Gonerfest:

Davila 666
Hex Dispensers
Evil Army
CoCoComa

The Gizmos line-up that played at dot dash sucked. No early good stuff at all

A reliable source said Negative Approach still kicks ass live. If we talkin hardcore, Government Warning should play,or the Inmates!
Posted: Feb 12, 2010 2:47 pm

Heard the same about Negative Approach from their Detroit show in 2007. Not sure how theatrical and funky War Of The Supperbikes era Meatmen was though.
Posted: Feb 12, 2010 4:59 pm

Tesco has theatrics in his DNA...any era..

Posted: Feb 12, 2010 7:07 pm

Yes, Negative Approach still destroys in a live capacity. Saw them at Touch and Go 25th. Easy Action destroys the world live as well. Laughing Hyenas?

You know, a Grifters reunion would make the world a better place in which to live.

Tesco!

That's because you are a true Man.

People pissed and moaned all weekend "los crudos were gonna talk a bunch and play and you got the show shut down".

Well no one cried during tirefire at goner except that lady who yelled at me for ruining her hearing so I now retrack my statement. Garackles can handle the inmates/midnight. Eric do it...please? Fo me and muscle...fo the team
Posted: Feb 14, 2010 11:10 am

The Inmates? The R&B, garage, pub band from the late 1970s? Yeah, that would be pretty rockin'!

Yeah, I also heard it was more bubblegum than the king tuff stuff. Still haven't bothered listening to their myspace yet. I went on a record shopping binge, and I still have a stack of 15 records or so that I haven't touched. I'll wait for the record to come out.

Sorry Stomp. End of September is Goner's turf. I'll drive the 6 hours to Memphis instead of the 6 minutes to the Quarter.

holy fucking shit!!!! d_g P____e!
Posted: Jul 24, 2010 4:40 pm

Bad news everybody. D_g P____e will not be playing. Hopefully next year. We thought we had it wrapped up but wasn't 100%... bummer.

Don't go calling 'em D_g S__t P____e or we'll never get 'em to play. We're working on next time! Fest will still be fantaboolousey.

Are Wounded Lion still playing? They seem to have disappeared from the line-up at the Bucanneer.
Posted: Jul 28, 2010 1:49 pm | Edited by: administrator

Wounded Lion had to cancel due to Arnold Schwartzenegger's appalling fiscal policies and body odor.

But we can now announce for the Friday Buccaneer lineup... GOLDEN TRIANGLE!

We also had to switch UV Race and Destruction Unit nights.

Well, I think it would be a perfect time to add the Triple Bass Attack.
You know who I'm talkin' 'bout...

Fair warning - I just heard from the Artisan/Country Hearth hotel. They're closing the joint before Gonerfest. If you've got reservations there you'll want to be making other arrangements.
Posted: Aug 3, 2010 12:39 pm

well that blows ass... suggestions on other hotels anyone??
Posted: Aug 3, 2010 2:01 pm

We got into Gen X when I heard artisan was closing - stayed there Gonerfest 5 - very nice room but quite a bit more expensive ($110) than the artisan - but it looks like the next closest hotel to the Hi-Tone

oblivians new bomb turks guitar wolf ty segall i'm there !
Posted: Aug 4, 2010 1:01 pm

The closest place I was able to find was a Motel 6 that wouldn't break the bank. Most places so far hotel-wise is booked up or getting expensive.
Posted: Aug 4, 2010 3:10 pm

Yeah, both Holiday Inn Express and Gen X are around $100 p/n. Motel 6 is literally half that - we have a winner! I suspect this will be where all ex-Artisan Goners will end up.
Posted: Aug 4, 2010 3:30 pm

We stayed at Motel 6 one of the last times and though it's not nearly as nice as GenX (no flatscreen or cushy bed) it's cheap and does the job...very close still as well.

This ex ended up at Motel 6. Had ran out of options of any place closer.

One week after Gonerfest - http://www.scion.com/garagefest/index.html - really wishing I could go to both.

We got into Gen X when I heard artisan was closing

the pool at Holiday Inn has changed my mind - we're lashing out, breaking the budget & staying there

When does Brett Michaels play?

UPDATE AGAIN!

Due to Zeta violence and various unworthy vehicular access, our Mexican connection RATAS DEL VATICANO cannot make it to the festival, which really sucks. They had gotten in before Gonerfest 6 and we were really looking forward to it... DAMMIT! Hopefully next year things will work out.

so... GOLDEN TRIANGLE will play on the Saturday afternoon 10 band blowout, adding a healthy dose of estrogen to the proceedings.

Taking their place on Friday afternoon will be Austin's LOVE COLLECTOR featuring a true Goner's goner Rob Yazzie (ex-Fells!) with Shawn Carpetbagger and Robin Retox who starred on this very stage with the great Shitty Beach Boys last year!

Onward Gonerfest Soldiers! We cannot be stopped!

thanks for nothing.

???

Ratas were saying driving between/into towns was getting really scary & the extended drive was going to be too much, both for their car, their expenses, and their safety. Really sounds NOT GOOD right now.

And yes, hand screened posters will be for SALE!

Is there a good place to get pizza in town? I hear nothing but complaints from the locals who have eaten pizza in cities with at least one Italian who knows how to make the sauce.

BIG THANKS to Goner fans at the Guitar Wolf set this evening.!!!

One was Kandi Cook, and the other fine souls that were near/around me and were kind enough to zero in on the loose camera of mine. All should have BIG points coming from Karma-land. You all helped prevent a financial/creative hardship. Much love and thanks to you all good and fine people!!! Best, Marty Perez

Is there a good place to get pizza in town?

Do not go to Lou's Pizza next to Goner. Tiny slices at a bad price.

What was your favorite (or least favorite) moment? Any surprizes?

I have made a avi file of some of the video footage & photos I took at GONERFEST 7
here is a link to the file
http://smarta.com.au/gonerfest7/

you should be able to right click and save as to your computer - don't try to stream it as it will take forever! as its 375mb

it is way better picture quality if you burn it to DVD and watch it on a TV

some of the picture is pretty shitty due to low light etc but all the sound is great
