It's been more than 30 years, but legendary Aus punk band X will finally head out on their first US tour next month.

Unperturbed by frontman Steve Lucas' recent run-in with airline staff, X will jet off to the US after a farewell show with The UV Race at Melbourne's Ding Dong Lounge on May 7.

The landmark tour will begin in Washington on May 16, and include stops in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and Phoenix, before winding up in Oakland, California, on June 5.

While the band have released some of the most influential albums in Australian punk rock history, including the recently re-released X-Aspirations and At Home With You, they haven't enjoyed the same following in the US where they've been outshined by their Los Angeles namesakes. Their current line-up consists of founding member Lucas, Kim Volkman on bass and Bill Walsh (ex-The Cosmic Psychos) on drums.

A Frames were great/X were great. As far as X go I was actually thinking that their song "Waiting" would not go over well live, but it actually turned out to be my favorite song of the set. They did as promised and played all material from Aspirations. They also did everything from the "home is the floor is" 7 inch. They had a pretty cool tour edition of the Aspirations Lp vinyl which was a painted (or silkscreened) sleeve I was going to get and pass my other copy on to a friend but alas I waited too long. oops!

I waited too long. oops!

ME TOO...damn! X were great, could've edited a bit...played forever...drunks dropping like flies, but awesome nonetheless. A Frames? Still don't get it... they're flawless at being totally unexciting... what's the point? Fun night tho...

^^^ agreed. AFrames underwhelming but they had a good sound.

i recognized a bunch of X songs, dunno why. like that "Instinct" song tho!
Steve has got superior stage patter, take note
