Petey, this is Louie Fest. You know how important this show is. YOU HAVE TO CANCEL.
Posted: May 27, 2008 11:49 pm

its not as important as my commitment to the out of town bands I set this show up with.

Is that Valentine Killers reunion for real, cuz I don't believe it - & I woulda been one of the first to hear about it!!!
Posted: May 30, 2008 9:00 pm

Fuck! Why does this hafta be the same weekend

I suggest Slabtown take you two bands on Saturday somehow and then we'll cancel the show and just play with ya in Seattle. But then I'm not the one to make any of these decisions.

Holy fuckin shit! Batten down the hatches & stock up on booze, pills & powders cause we got a HURRICANE a'comin! Hurricane Louie, that is. Can't wait to see the Black Rose band. It'll be a trip back in the time machine to see 10-4 play, too.

Too lazy to quote... But what Petey said. This double-triple-booking of bands against each other has to STOP.

OK,off the soapbox. Mean Jeans!!!!!!

fuck that.

stop being such pussies. if there are 10 good shows to be booked in one night, book them all. an embarrassment of riches is no embarrassment at all.
Posted: Jun 2, 2008 3:03 am

"fuck that."

Uh,no,fuck THAT. Maybe you like the whole Punk Rock Retirement Community,um,vibe, but if you realistically want more than the same 5-10 people at your show it's always better to NOT book against your best intrest. Just sayin'.

But really though, why should i care that there's the best possible audience for Louie when he's in Portland? I'll be seeing more of him in the future if i play my cards right... right?

I so can't wait to blast off from this "Shit Rock"... Foot assassinations,ZZZ.

This double-triple-booking of bands against each other has to STOP.

it's always gonna happen and it always should be happening.

SAM call me today!!! ned all the info for this ...Loomis
Posted: Jun 2, 2008 1:15 pm

there are just too many good bands in this town- or touring through this town- not to have conflicts sometimes. it happens at least once a month.

i'll start complaining when there are no good shows.

Shit Petey...would Kenton maybe make that show an afternoon deal?
Posted: Jun 2, 2008 6:42 pm | Edited by: roche

I'm down w/ whatever you wanna do, Petey ... maybe just give Stu a head's up (or whoever was booking this) ... I'd like to check this out too - or even better, be a part of it ...
Posted: Jun 2, 2008 6:48 pm

afternoon show would be kind of lame - I still want a good show for the F'n Eagles and Manips and I think we can still make that happen at the Kenton. Us and the Headliners do well there and there's a built in crowd and a guarantee for the bands. I play against a show I want to see just about every time we play so whatevs.
Posted: Jun 2, 2008 7:02 pm

afternoon show would be kind of lame
yeah, prolly so...just wanted to see you guys down there...

Joe will be gone by then eh?
Posted: Jun 3, 2008 6:38 pm

10-4 can't happen without him so I'd guess he'll still be around
Posted: Jun 4, 2008 1:03 pm

You should get a cardboard cut out of me with a big straw up my nose and crry it around the Somp!!! i'l just look at it pod cast on the net from NOLA!!!
Posted: Jun 4, 2008 9:41 pm

I will not let Louie down. I will be here to play that show. Then i leave by hook or by crook.

Speaking of "By Hook Or By Crook",does anyone remember that old TV show The Prisoner? That's exactly how i feel about being in Portland now. All the people in The Village want me to be Number 6. I'm Joe Fucking Silverking. I'm Joe From The Spits. "I AM NOT A NUMBER- - I AM A FREE MAN!!!!!"
Posted: Jun 4, 2008 10:07 pm

Just to clarify,it's not you,it's me. You're all Aces in my book,i've just lived here waay too long and i'm all out of options. Just ate up n' frustrated.

Good night...
Posted: Jun 5, 2008 3:15 am

So... Superdestroyers?
Posted: Jun 5, 2008 12:35 pm

Fuck yeah...Superdestroyers. Two guys from PDX and two from New Orleans. It just makes sense.

Rightpeg, you should get them on the bill.
Posted: Jun 5, 2008 3:43 pm

i thought you guys had been erased.
Posted: Jun 6, 2008 7:03 pm

Details forthcoming....
Posted: Jun 8, 2008 1:53 pm

fuck, how lame i'll be outta town on the 8th and flying back on the 9th to play the kenton club show...i had no idea about this until right now. i just finally got on this goner board thing....no NEARLY DEADS reunion, probably ever, but THEE HEADLINERS wanna rip it with louie, dammit! patrick, we should make it an early show so we can all go party at slabtown...
Posted: Jun 26, 2008 5:14 pm

So wot's the latest? Bump?

What is the good word JoeP?
Posted: Jul 8, 2008 2:38 pm

I thought i already said we're gonna do it. When can you record Jon?

I love clogging up these threads w/ personal contact stuff... Goner Message Board is the new My Space!
Posted: Jul 8, 2008 2:47 pm

Well if we're going to call me out: yes Joe but you can be pretty inconsistent and this way I can refer back to this thread. Ha.
Posted: Jul 9, 2008 12:58 am

But when you wanna record n' shit, brah? Last weekend in July maybe?

And let me say that The King Louie Stomp will probably be the LAST time most of you PDXans will be seeing me for a long time. All Joe P.haters can help me pay for a plane ticket out... i'll be carrying a pitcher around for funds.
Posted: Jul 9, 2008 3:01 am

Joe your the new MySpace!
Posted: Jul 9, 2008 5:54 am

Hey, guys. The Stomp is running out of time to find that perfect headlinerly type band for Friday night; someone who, in the best of all possible worlds, has some kind of connection to Louie and can still get the kids out... Running out of time.
Posted: Jul 9, 2008 1:43 pm

Spider Babies? Louie keeps coming back to them. Contact?

Ideas?

Let us not forget, Louie is the People's King....
Posted: Jul 10, 2008 6:13 am

Spider Babies
Kevin still a skinhead?
Posted: Jul 10, 2008 2:18 pm

Spider Babies? Well...

* First of all,the "kids" never liked 'em in the first place,so i don't think they would years later (this is not a commentary on their music BTW... that part rules. just not Indie or Liberal enough for PDX).

* Second of all,i think Kevin has retired. Just a dropout,oh yah. Can't say i blame him these days. I don't think he was ever an proper "Skinhead" but one of my last conversations w/ Adam (:( ) was that Kevin told him he "wasn't racist anymore",for what that's worth.
Posted: Jul 10, 2008 3:39 pm

Kevin still a skinhead?
I'd be willing to bet
Can't say i blame him these days. Well with a scene so full of relentless optimisim how could he ever put the axe down??
Posted: Jul 10, 2008 7:55 pm

Here is my long distance dedication to the "kids" of Portland:

BASH!

I'm totally sucking your cock for that gem..

a classic track
Posted: Jul 11, 2008 5:32 pm

I don't know why he put the axe away. Me,i'm just burned out right now.

I'll be more optimistic after my time off... the first time i've taken a real voluntary break from this shit since my first show, back when Alec Holland was barely a year old.

See ya tonight to nail down times for that recording,uh,"sesh".
Posted: Jul 12, 2008 3:05 pm

Will Therapist be playing? Louie therapist/ superdestroyer is from new orleans and connected with those guys right? Maybe they not as a headlining band but an amazing band that King Louie would appreciate.
Posted: Jul 12, 2008 4:16 pm

What about the Fe Fi Fo Fums from Seattle?
Posted: Jul 13, 2008 2:09 pm

Whoever the band might be, can you please keep this show from moving any further into the garage?

jus my 2 cents.
Posted: Jul 14, 2008 2:07 am

Fe Fi Fo Fums
broke up now the D&D are on the corporate hearst
Posted: Jul 14, 2008 12:30 pm

"Whoever the band might be,can you please keep this show from moving any further into the garage?

jus my 2 cents."

NO FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!

This is exactly what i didn't want happening! I wanted Louie to see (what i think are) the best bands in Portland, but judging by the bands that aren't playing it might be a 50/50. I understand some of it is scheduling but no Therapists? Geez.

I'm sure rightpeg has something special in mind to compensate for this error... i still gots faith.
Posted: Jul 14, 2008 12:32 pm

And Superdestroyers are playing (i believe on Sunday),but i was leaving any music i'm involved with out of my last post.
Posted: Jul 15, 2008 5:17 pm

So what's the latest line-up for Saturday night?

I'm in The Jinxes btw...
Posted: Jul 15, 2008 11:47 pm

whats the lineup for any of this debacle?
Posted: Jul 17, 2008 5:33 am

Ok, gentle country-folk. Following is the confirmed and final line-up for the highly anticipated King Louie Stomp. Due to logistical concerns (and a stunning amount of booking breakdowns) Slabtown has had to thin this back down to just two nights.

But a wonderful two nights it is.

Friday August 8 (first to last)
Bunker (Leaders/Hunches/Clorox Girls... the debut)
10-4 Backdoor
The Pity Fucks
Louie & Terry

Saturday August 9
The Jinxes
The Darlins'
The Fireballs of Freedom
King Louie One Man Band

Dang,openin for Pity Fucks...pretty cool

And we just started practicing too... should be killah!

It's actually got me stoked about playing again! If we can NOT re-learn any of the songs i wrote/sang it'll be even better.

Any posters and/or flyers for this shindig? And is there a chance of this selling out before the day(s) of show? Maybe I can thumb it and pitch a tent in someone's yard.

Once again The Portland Mercury gets it wrong. Gee,what a surprise.

This was the same rag that talked shit about 10-4's "sexist" lyrics in "She's Losing Her Hair" way back when(the only writeup on that band in the Merc ever). If it wasn't for The Exploding Hearts getting "discovered" by Bitchfork they wouldn't-a wrote nothin'!

Can't we ship these doucheclowns off to Iraq yet?

This was the same rag that talked shit about 10-4's "sexist" lyrics in "She's Losing Her Hair"

Actually, Joe, all she said was that it was a 'cruel, cruel song about a hot chick who loses her hair and gets dissed by all the guys'. Which as far as I'm concerned, is totally true. I just dug out this clipping, and can find no evidence of accusations of sexism. In fact, she's making an endorsement to see the band! It's like she actually LISTENED to some of our songs!

the bands plugged their stringed instruments into amplifiers of which each had a single red light. chopped heads of romaine lettuce flew about in the most unfortunate directions. bathroom visitors bestrode two by two and took their sweet fucking time. and some instrumentalists even wore their sunglasses. at night.

and 10-4 killed.

Bunker was awesome, 10-4 played the most appropriately long and killer set possible, Terry/Louie were great. I was going to "take it easy" last night but once I blacked out, I forgot to so a lot of the real details have leaked out my ass already

Fantastic weekend. Thanks all.

FRIDAY: Best show ever. Louie/Terry Six was fucking inspiring. I thought we played great w/ 10-4 Backdoor and got a tremendous response.I just don't think it's my place to say how we sounded other than i thought we all gave 200% up there and it sounded better than it ever did when we were a more actively rockin' combo.

SATURDAY: Drunk Girl Rap Battle. KLOMB ruled and nothing came close, except the Jinxes and the Fireballs/ Louie triple-git onslaught sesh.

Yep.

And ms. stix, while the word "Sexist" does not literally show up in text ,i would hardly call her writeup a positive review.

But those that know are already on the go... i leave in either two or three weeks tops!

THE KING LOUIE STOMP RULES!!!! Thanx PDX... i'll miss you when i'm gone!
